Powderhorn Golf Course
Played On 07/06/2015Seems easy but be careful.
Was our triple header choice. Golf, lunch, Cleveland ballgame. Weather was a 12 on the 1-10 scale. Putting green was perfect, only bicker would be the course greens were not as good as the putting green. Lot of short par fours that you must think on. Plenty of sand around greens. Most holes framed nicely as to see the hole. Few blind situations. Opening par 4 a problem. As hard as they come. You can score here or be ball hunting a lot. I would return every summer. Easy to find off the 90. A pleasure to play. Even had a deer and little baby watching us.

This is a heavyweight. Hardest of the WNY publics. On a good day I can shoot under 85 anywhere. Here............95 is good. Greens are all local knowledge. You have to be a regular to understand them. Otherwise a bushel of 3 putts will arrive...........4 putts?
Not much sand but chipping here is easy only if it's uphill. 14 par fours that all vary in many ways.
Someone mentioned lack of rough? Who cares.............place is a gem. Once a year is a mistake, you gotta play 4-6 times here.
Livingston Country Club
Played On 7/17/2013OK.............Kinda cool.................
1st visit and impressed. No weeds in the rough and fairway cut grass being blown off. If that is not a sign of a well maintained course then what is? Actually not too hard tee to green but the greens were diabolical. Fast............beyond fast, not pristine like the fairways but fast made up for some uglies. Par 3 green was gone, had sand but was gone. Flooded? When the huge rains hit? Better be below the hole here.
Maybe a few tighter fairways...........not to many lost ball situations. Mini gully comes into play on a decent number a holes.
Well worth our 1 hour plus trip.............will return............quite often.

From back tees 10-16 may be toughtest of any public WNY course. Breaking 40 on 1-9 is possible for the 10-15 handicapper. Course is always in fine shape, fairways B+, greens smallish and roll perfect.
Each hole is mostly framed on its own. If you miss the fairway the ball seldom finds an adjacent hole.
If you try this place, you will go back for the rest of your playing days. If it was closer, I'd join the membership.
Holland Hills Country Club
Played On 6/4/2013A course that could be much better. Staff is unfriendly
Funniest aspect to this place is when they tell you "cart paths only". Well the fairways are horrible anyway and you risk injury on the cart paths. Undriveable, period! Has a small share of good golf holes. Excellent par 5s but too many vanilla up and downhill holes. Island par 3 is cute. Conditions may be the worse of WNY courses. Greens are always terrible and fairways ugh! With cart should be $25ish and lower.
If you are an avid golfer, one trip every 4 years is good enough.
