Challenging layout

I played PI 5 times this year and the course maintenance steadily improved over the summer. First, the layout will challenge golfers of all levels. The course is not flat so be prepared to play lies from all levels. Scenically the course is very attractive. Second, the course does not handle large amounts of rain and this causes both slow play and damage to the course. Third, the course needs a driving range. It has a driving net, putting and chipping greens but a driving range will take it to the next level. Off course amenities are ok but nothing to get excited about. The course does not discount rates for senior golfers so this is why I give a course a lower value score. My biggest gripe is that the lack of rangers causes slow play which is exacerbated by wet conditions. On a positive note the course has had a lot of work this past summer with new traps, trees pruned and maintained and greens rolled. My advice is pick a dry day in the middle of the week and give the course a try.

Challenging - but not well maintained

Many challenging holes in a rambling layout. Lots of variety for 18 holes. Off course amenities are average but expensive. Good driving range and practice layout. But the course is desperately in need of work - both on the maintenance as well as the management side. This course does not handle heavy rain very well and this summer slammed the course. The greens are pitted with ball marks - whether the cause is failure to repair ball marks or whether the greens need to be plugged and sanded - the result is the same. The sand traps are so unplayable they constitute ground under repair. In dryer times the traps are well laid out so as to challenge the golfer. But they are equal parts pebbles and sand. The tee boxes are pitted with ruts from overuse. The tee markers are not moved enough to prevent overplay. The course suffers from major Canada Goose droppings making certain holes disgusting. There are many other courses in this area that have handled hard rains and heavy play, so the only explanation for the course condition is poor management. Pace of play makes the course condition even more annoying. While the service staff is friendly they do not monitor pace of play. Rounds of 4 1/2 hour’s is typical. The pro shop is adequate. Best advice is avoid weekend play and days when leagues play. Avoid play for a week after rain. Value for your golfing dollar is better spent on another course or once the course is brought back to a playable condition. Fire up Go,f Advisor and find a better course with a better deal.

Fun layout - but needs work

I have play this course about 3-4 times a year. The layout is the best aspect of the course. Plenty of challenge for every level of play. The course can suffer after a moderate rain with several low spots on numbers 9, 10 and 11. The sand traps need work because most have rocks mixed with the sand. The off course amenities are limited. Food is available but basically limited to burgers and dogs. The course does not have a driving range - but does have a decent putting green. PI does have a driving net, practice sand trap with green. Pace of play can be agonizingly slow since there are few if any rangers roaming the course. The tee boxes get chewed up and many golfers neglect to fix their ball marks on the green. The course does not offer a senior rate which is one reason why my play is limited to 3-4 times a year. Unless you are a regular the staff is friendly but not overly so. The pro shop is below average with limited product.

Fun course & good challenge

Challenging layout and well maintained. Occasional problems after heavy rains but that is limited to the holes on the low side of the course - nos 9 and 10. No driving range but it does have a driving net, chipping and putting greens. Can be pricey on the weekends. Bar is ok as is the pro shop. Real fun is to be found on the course layout so all-in-all it is worth the play.

Updated facilities

Over the winter BD’s pro shop and club house went through an updating with fresh paint, new computer and point of sale system. The course survived our miserable winter and spring really well and the course is in great condition. Many of the traps have been reconditioned which should help the pace of play - which is typically pretty good. The course itself is a great place for all levels of golfers and is forgiving for new golfers and challenging enough for experienced golfers. It’s not a long course but there are a lot of holes you can hit driver. The only tho g lacking is a driving range but they do have a driving cage which provides a place to warm up before the round. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and genuine in their efforts to make your round of golf fun.

Fun course managed by friendly staff

BD presents a relatively open layout without punishing a golfer who does not hit a long ball. Most greens are open in the front with traps on the right and left and trouble over the green. The course is in great condition in spite of the heavy rains in July and early August. There is some water but it only comes into play on one par three. The par 5s are not overly long and can be reached in two - at least from the whites. The course does not have a driving range but does have a driving net. The putting green is average but functional. The one real negative is the complete absence of rangers so pace of play can be a problem - especially late in the day. Food and beverage service is available but nothing out of the ordinary. Due to its location adjacent to Route 25, there is some road noise.

Always a challenge

Regardlessof your skill level or the tee box you p,any from, this course is always a challenge and ALWAYS FUN. Like most courses in this area it has suffered due to the heavy rains but for the most part it has held up well. If we ever get dry conditions this course will return to top shape. The only negative is the lack of a driving range but that is the only minus.

Challenging course -well maintained

This is a well maintained and fun course. Played a day or two after a heavy rain and for the most part the course handled the rain very well. Only problem was on #9, #10 and #11 which were a bit soggy. The rains also brought out the mosquitoes on those holes as well. The rest of the course was challenging without issue. The greens are tricky and will reward the player who takes the time to study the line. They were fast so the approach shot is critical. You can expect a fun first round with each subsequent round continuing to challenge your shotmaking abilities. When the course is completely dry it's a fast track for sure. The only negative is the absence of a driving range. The staff is friendly and prof ssional.

Challenging course - target golf

The course layout rewards golfers who can control their shots. From the white tees you don't need to be a bomber to score well on this course. Very scenic with lots of rough and water. Only negative are 2 par 5s which require a mid iron layup off the tee - here being a bomber would help. The sand traps are being repaired so when we played it was pick clean and place in the traps. Course has a good driving range and putting green. The staff is friendly and professional. Course has GPS through an app and the carts have plug ins for charging your phone.

Restaurant is a franchise operation of average quality and higher than average prices.

Spring Golf - First 9 of the season

Jumped on the chance to play the first 9 of the season. The course was in good shape and we had no issue with the pace of play. The cost was so-so - no hot deals were available but we wanted to play since it was sunny and warm. The greens were still a bit hard but the rest of the course was in good condition. We played the front 9 which has a lot of elevation changes so we had fun.

Course is getting ready for winter

The greens and fairways have been plugged, sanded and seeded in anticipation for winter. While the course is normally in great shape and fun to play, in its present condition the price charged is too much. In addition, most of the sand traps have been dug up and are now ground under repair. Not sure why, but the pins were placed on the most difficult position on each green which made putting very difficult on plugged and sanded greens. Save you money and play on courses that are still in business.

Worth the Drive.

I drove two hours to play golf with a friend. Neither of us had played the course and didn't know what to expect. The course was well laid out - with the exception of the path from # 17 to 18. The course was very soggy from several days of rain but the greens were in reasonable condition and rolled true. Due to the standing water and mud we elected to play pick clean and play so other than getting wet feet the water didn't effect our play. The course had many doglegs which have either water or trees which requires control over your tee shots. There were numerous sand traps but mostly those were to the side of the greens so you could miss it short and not have to play in the sand. The course offers play it forward tee boxes which was appreciated since I am rehabbing from back surgery. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant made an excellent burger which fueled my 2 hour return trip. I will play this course again.

Great Course for Quick Round

Bonnie is a fun and forgiving course with enough of a challenge to make for a quick enjoyable round of golf. While it lacks a driving range it does have a net by the first hole that gives the golfer a chance to loosen up. It does have a practice green conveniently located to the first and tenth holes. The course was in great condition and the staff is super friendly.

Book your tee time in the morning

This was my 3rd time to play this course. The course is well laid out with a lot of different challenges. The weather was good with some wind which made certain holes more challenging than the hole would first appear. The course has a putting green, chipping green and driving range. The problem we faced were warn, beat up and fuzzy greens. Most greens were full of ball marks and some had bare spots. The distance between holes makes walking not a reasonable option. The course provides multiple tee boxes so there is something for most golfers. The big negative in addition to the condition of the greens is that the club house/bar was closed for a wedding. We salvaged the situation by driving to a local sports bar where the beer was cold and for a reasonable price. Best tips: book an early tee time and verify that the club has not booked a private function so you can enjoy ALL that the course has to offer.

The challenge is never ending.

I discovered this course by accident and keep coming back because each time I play, the course always presents a challenge. The course is well maintained - especially the greens which are true and smooth. Each hole will present the golfer with some risk-reward decisions with the risk being a lost ball, double bogey or both. However, the course allows for conservative play and good scoring. The 8th hole, their signature hole, is as aesthetically beautiful as it is challenging. Standing on the tee high above a green which has water virtually surrounding it, the golfer is faced the question: Can I get there with my wedge or do I try to hit a half 8 iron! Make no mistake, this course is very playable and will give golfers many reasons to come and play again. Unfortunately, the course does not have a driving range which makes warming up an issue.

Keeps getting better with each round.

This course is a fun and challenging track. The course is in great condition and holds up well with daily use. The par 3s - especially the signature #8 hole - are easily reachable but that doesn't mean birdies are automatic. The par 5s are reasonable with varying degrees of difficulty. There are hidden ponds patches of rough which will surprise you unless you pick up a course book ar the start of the round. The course lacks a driving range which is the only negative. There is a substantial practice putting green which will offer lengthy practice putts as well as side hill putts. HINT: practice the side hill putts because on the course you will be facing a lot of breaking putts. This course rewards solid short game play and there is a practice chipping, pitching and sand trap green to get ready for the course. The course meanders through "environmentally protected" areas so a ball going into such area is gone forever.

The course has a bar and some video gaming if that is your sort of thing. The bar doesn't offer a variety of food - but it does offer the basics. Just don't ask for the free pretzels with the intent of sitting on the patio. The server only provides pretzels to patrons sitting at the bar!

This course is definitely worth playing multiple times.

Fun track worth the drive to play

To start we were forced to follow two extremely slow foursomes who appeared to be just learning the game. While everyone has to start sometime, they should not be allowed to start during the weekend prime time.

The course is well laid out with numerous blind shots and wicked dogleg holes. There are plenty of trees and accuracy is at a premium. The greens generally held approach shots while maintaining reasonable speed. The tee boxes were beat up which made finding a level tee spot difficult. The course uses "barber poles" to designate 150 yards to the center of the green and for the most part they were accurate. The beverage cart was constantly on the move and visited our group 4 times during the round.

This is a course which warrants playing TWICE. The first round is simply to get a feel for the course and the what it offers and the second is to try for a low score. The value through GolfNow is worth playing the course two times.

Fun course at a great value.

Bought a tee time to introduce a friend to the course which I have played before. Unfortunately it rained the day we played (can't blame GCI for that). The course holds up really well in the rain and with no one else on the course, the pace of play was as fast (or slow) as we wanted. The course can be demanding in windy conditions placing a premium on low boring shots into the wind. The only trees are those that line the course but there is plenty of tall fescue to catch and hide your golf ball. Tip -->> bring extra golf balls "just in case". There are multiple tee boxes so the course accommodates golfers with all skill levels. The club staff were all very pleasant and friendly. The only negatives were the condition of the driving range (lousy tee boxes), some of distance markers on the course were suspect and last several of the tees on the course were soft and mushy - most likely due to rain and that lack of mowing on the day we played. It is a course that you have to play twice so on the second round you know what to expect on each hole. Remember to pick up a course book in the pro shop before your round.
