Lake Forest Golf Club

The course was fine, I had last played there about 10 years ago, and the greens were in much better shape than they were at that time. However, I felt ripped off, the pre-paid tee-time did not make it clear that it was a walking rate. I was not aware that Golfnow even sold walking hot deal tee time rates, I assumed it was a riding rate and was wrong. I was required to pay an additional $25 when I got to the course for a cart. The course is extremely hilly, with long walks between the greens and tee boxes, you'll want the golf cart. Staff was unwilling to compromise, and offered nothing for the trouble of the lack of clarity when the tee time was made. Be careful when you book these tee times!
Scenic Hills Country Club
Played On 11/27/2023Cypress Lakes Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2019The course is soft and plays long with tiny greens. The turf is extremely inconsistent and sparse in a lot of areas. On the day we played the front nine was closed, but we were not informed of this ahead of time. The greens have improved slightly since my last visit.
Club at Hidden Creek, The
Played On 06/25/2018Fun course, somewhat challenging with water or lateral hazards on most holes. This said, the course is pretty open otherwise so plays fairly when played from the appropriate tees. My one complaint with the course was the tee boxes. All of the tee boxes were bumpy and mounded, making it difficult to find a flat lie or stance. Great conditioning otherwise, would definitely recommend the course.
Stonebrook Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2018Plays long
Stonebrook has a decent layout with some challenging holes but has some consistent issues with conditioning. I have played the course on numerous occasions but had stopped for a while until this most recent round. This is in large part due to the normal conditions of the course.
The course is manicured very nicely but always seems to be wet and soft. The greens are extremely slow by modern standards. This may be purposeful as the greens have a lot of extreme contours, mostly like an upside down bowl. There were several uphill putts where I just couldn't force myself to hit it hard enough to get it even 3-4 feet short of the hole! As mentioned, the fairways are very soft with no run-out on drives. This also makes it difficult to compress the golf ball, causing inconsistent distance control. On the plus side, the staff is extremely helpful and cordial and the practice facility is large and well designed. The practice greens run about the same speed as the greens on the course. I would recommend this course as it has an interesting layout and I don't think the slow conditions bother other golfers as much.
Marcus Pointe Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2016Another typical Pensacola/Florida Course
I have played Marcus Pointe many times in the past, and in general its overall condition is improving. However, the day I played-and I note it was the same day they were holding a tournament-I found the fairways and greens overgrown and soft. Far too like many of the courses in this part of Florida, the fairway was like hitting out of the second cut of rough on some courses and the greens were extremely slow. Not only were the fairways overgrown, but they were extremely soft underneath the grass making it almost impossible to compress the ball against the turf, affecting the quality of iron shots and preventing drives from rolling out more than a couple of feet from where they land. The course has a fun layout with a lot of potential, and they are making progress in its condition, but for right now, the $17 that I paid to play was a more than fair price.

Stonebrook Golf Course
Played On 05/26/2014fun course
I've had a lot of fun both times that I have played this course. A few risk/reward holes to challenge you and mostly a fair golf course with great conditioning. I recommend the course to any who are in the area and even worth a drive to play (which I do).
