Marine Park is in great shape, especially compared to other NYC public courses. Fairways are green and lush, greens are rolling true, and the range of efforts aimed at further enhancing the course are apparent. The installation of new tee boxes and fairway bunkers on the par-5 14th are coming along nicely.

One of the best in the City

Marine Park never disappoints when compared to other public courses in NYC. Given the current circumstances because of Covid-19, the course is in pretty decent shape. Pace of play, as always, is an issue. But we teed off right on time.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience playing Black Bear. Course layout is linksy so it features a ton of mounds/dunes and big, soft, sandy bunkers. Beautiful weather today so pace of play was a bit slow but this course is worth the (fairly long) drive from central Orlando.

Greens were quite fast. Slow pace of play because of the beautiful weekend weather. Always a fun course layout.

First time playing Black Bear and my experience was a smashing success. Course is open and linksy, featuring huge dunes and well-kept greens and fairways. Very large driving range where one can hit off grass, too. Pace was slower than ideal, which was the only downside of the round. Will definitely return to this course.

True challenge and friendly staff

First time playing this course and was truly impressed. Conditions are top notch and the staff were as helpful and friendly as can be. A true shot maker’s course as there are monster bunkers everywhere. Teed off around 1:30pm and the course was absolutely empty ahead of me. Would return in a heartbeat, especially with a GolfNow hot deal, which made the experience feel like much greater value for the money.

Best NYC muni course but awful pace of play

Marine Park’s conditions and course grooming have improved dramatically over the past few years. It is by far my favorite NYC municipal course and the linksy design is never sore on the eyes.

The pace of play, however, is absolutely horrid (as is the case at most public course said in NYC). Most weekend rounds take five hours minimum, with five and a half being the typical. A round of golf shouldn’t be a seven hour (or more) ordeal. Get here first thing in the morning (and pay the overpriced green fees) if you want to get out of there in four hours or less.

Fun layout and one of the best munis in NYC. The very big caveat here, as is the case at most public courses in NYC, is pace of play. Even on a chilly day with a relatively late tee time the pace was a full five and a half hours for 18. Unbelievable. Slow golfers are partly to blame, of course, but the rangers ought to be more proactive in judging along golfers to keep pace front of mind.

Dyker Beach Golf Course

Conditions have worsened over the last month

Dyker was in good shape, all things considered, in the late spring and early summer. But the conditions have severely worsened over the past month or so. Weeds are beginning to overtake fairways, tee boxes are devoid of grass, and the greens are rolling like concrete sidewalks. Approach shots weren’t biting and putts were rolling much faster - and not in a good way - than usual.

Pleasantly surprised

First time on this track and was pleasantly surprised. Had always heard positive things but recently had heard conditions had worsened. The truth was far from that. Course was in great shape, a number of challenging holes featuring lots of water hazards, and fast pace of play, especially for a summer morning. Will definitely return here.

Always a gem.

I play Crooked Cat every time I’m in Florida. Gem of a course and you can’t beat GolfNow hot deals, which, at this course. are the best deals in town. Course conditions were superb and pace of play was excellent - 18 in a bit over 2.5 hours in the early afternoon.

Solid top course.

Course conditions were great with the exception of a few wet waste areas, but the free drops easily solved that. Would definitely return here. Can certainly see why this is one of the top courses in the Orlando area.

Better than expected! Will definitely return.

Years ago I had heard that Twin Rivers wasn’t worth the time or the money. But a little while ago someone mentioned that the conditions had drastically improved and recommended that I give it a shot. So I did, and was thoroughly impressed.

It had rained several inches the evening prior so it was cart path only, but even that didn’t slow us down very much. The course conditions were surprisingly good (an 8 out of 10), even though the greens were a bit slow due to the water saturation. The course layout was also a pleasant element of the experience - I used every club in my bag and was challenged off the tee.

If you’re looking for a good value course that isn’t near the resorts then Twin Rivers is your place! I’d compare the course to Rio Pinar or Metrowest (back in the day when the management actually gave a care). I’ll definitely return and will recommend!
