Golf Club At South Hampton
Played On 11/18/2019Great Course
Recently played in a scramble at South Hampton and it was an enjoyable round. The staff was very friendly and had a nice tradition of a moment of silence before the round began. The course was in good shaped but the greens were in excellent shape. The routing of the course is what is most enjoyable. The homes are pushed back and many of the holes are carved out of mature pine trees so each hole is somewhat private. Short distance from 95/St. Augustine.
Grande Vista Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2019Great short resort course
I've played this course several times and I think its one of the best hidden gems in Orlando if you are in the attractions area. The one miss is that its not a walk-able 9-hole golf course. Each hold is pretty contained and routes through the property, making the course pretty peaceful and a good escape from hustle and bustle.
Bay Hill Club & Lodge - Championship Course
Played On 02/08/2019One of Orlando's Best
Growing up in Central Florida I've visited Bay Hill since I was a child, it was a real treat to get to play myself. There are a handful of courses out there that you are prepared to play before you hit your tee shot and Bay Hill is one of those courses where you know each hole with great details in advance of playing.
The service was excellent and would make Mr. Palmer proud. The charm of the members' locker room sets you up for a great experience to bookend your round.
The course was in phenomenal shape, greens were slightly slower than expected as they were a little long in anticipation of the Tour coming to town.
I left Bay Hill Club & Lodge extremely satisfied and a round I'll remember forever.
Streamsong Resort - Blue Course
Played On 01/22/2018Unlike anything else in Florida
As a native Floridian, I thought that I had had played it all in the Sunshine state. That was true until I made the 1 hour and 45 minute drive from Orlando to Streamsong Resort.
From the moment you drive on to the property, you know you're not at an everyday FL golf course, the landscape, architecture, mounding are unique and set you up for a memorable day on the golf course.
We walked Blue on a 75 degree January day, I can't imagine making the same walk on a 95 degree August day. From the elevated first tee box, you get a preview of what you're in for, rolling hills, plateaus, sand and you're left with curiosity about what is over the next hill or around the next corner. The greens were the fastest I've ever played.
I would highly recommend a trip to Streamsong. Make sure you're ready for a six mile walk, hydrated well and plan to eat tacos when you make the turn at the Taco Shack.
WinStar Golf Course - RedBud
Played On 10/12/2016First Class Facility
I had the privilege of playing the WinStar golf course during the 2016 World Long Drive Championship. The course routing was not traditional due to the championship but I could not have had a better experience. The clubhouse staff was excellent, setting me up with quality Callaway rental clubs and walking us through the course re-routing. I can't tell you how nice the greens are at WinStar, the best i've ever played. Looking forward to my next trip to WinStar.
French Lick Resort - The Pete Dye Course
Played On 07/28/2016A midwest dream
I had the privilege to play the Pete Dye Course at French Lick on a chamber of commerce day this summer. The course took my breath away with the course character, scenic views and conditions. To be honest, I wasn't expecting this with my first round in the state of Indiana. If you're in the area, French Lick is worth the trip and the $ for a round that you'll remember for a long time, regardless of how you play.
White Path Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2014Great Mountain Course
We recently played Whitepath CC while on vacation in the Blue Ridge area. The course layout is unreal, elevated tee boxes, scenic views and a great value at $30 during the week. The greens and fairways were in great shape, several of the tee boxes were a little rough but the course is a true gem.
I look forward to playing another round at Whitepath CC.
Oakmont Country Club
Played On 05/05/2014Excellent Club in a great neighborhood
We hosted an event at Oakmont CC on a Monday when the course is typically closed for maintenance. Having the course to ourselves (group of less than 10) was a special experience. Oakmont is a beautiful course that utilizes the natural undulations of the hillside community. With homes only lined on the perimeter of the property, the course offered the privacy and seclusion you would hope for. The mature trees and scenic views make this course one of a kind. It would be great to be one of the 200 members that make this a true country club.
Eagle Dunes Golf Club
Played On 02/02/2014Local Course
I played an early round at Eagle Dunes on a recent foggy Sunday morning. I booked my round with GolfNow and we had a 7:12AM tee time. When I arrived I realized Eagle Dunes was primarily a local course with a lot of guys trying to tee off as early as possible. The starter didn't acknowledge tee times but did place each of the groups in order to tee off every 7 mins. The greens were in great shape, fairways were hard but allowed for creativity with approach shots. Great winter value.
Dubsdread Golf Course
Played On 01/17/2014Shot Placement is Key
Dubsdread is almost always in pretty good shape, the course is in great shape considering how much traffic it receives. Pace of play is almost always an issue - especially on a Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday. Don't judge this course until you play it a couple times - it's all about shot placement and club selection.
Tap room is a must following your round.
