Scenic Woods Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/25/2017first time charmer
Got a great hot deal for $18 incl. cart.
At that price any course is good.
This was a nice feel good type of course.
Not too hard but some tricks to it.
Played with a gent who was a member.
Really nice guy. Gave me some good tips about the course.
I would go back
Knollwood Golf Club - Old
Played On 06/27/2017it's a feel good course
Beware the price. Get a hot deal.
it is a short course, fairly easy, good for beginners.
Nothing spectacular.
Just a nice course, easy day of golf
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 05/24/2017A must play (at the right price)
One of the better courses around in terms of design and conditioning.
Course is in darn good condition given our slow start to spring.
Not too many golfers this day (90 on the tee sheet) so we had a great leisurely round.
The price was right on GolfNow at $65 (albeit that's on the high end of what I normally pay for playing golf at other courses after searching all the deals out there and by purchasing promotional coupons at Christmas).
I'd play here a lot more if the $65 price held up.
The rate for this course is $99 on peak.
I think that is too high.
Niagara National Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/17/2016be careful how much you pay
Like most courses the weather has taken it's toll here.
But this one seems overly decimated.
Paid $25 incl. cart.
That's about how much this course is worth.
Riverview Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/11/2016A bit of a surprise
Fairways and greens are quite well maintained. Greens were a little spongy and slow.
Everything else was very dry and hard. (expected this year with lack or rain).
Front nine is fairly benign.
Back nine definetly more interesting and rolling hills.
Mosquitos bad on the back so take some bug spray,
(we played on a hotm humid day with no wind).
Good price on the hot deal.
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 05/25/2016Good course at a good price
We got a good deal $40 (plus tax and fee) for a Wed golf day. There were not many people there so we zipped around in 4 hours.
Course is in good condition.
It's a little tricky when the wind picks up.
Peninsula Lakes Golf Club - Hillside
Played On 11/04/2015as always the course is fantastic
We had great weather for an early November golf game.
Course was in great condition.
One funny thing was they had removed all the rakes from the course. Are they worried they would damaged from frost?
Savannah Golf Links
Played On 09/21/2015good little course but tricky
First time playing it is a little tricky (as with any course I suppose).
We took the advise and played from the blue tees (5900 yds versus gold at 6300 yrds).
Course is well maintained. Hilly. But actually enjoyable.
It is 45 minute drive for me. If it was 1/2 the distance I would be there more often.
Nice touch is the water coolers out on the course.

Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course
Played On 09/16/2015The starter started us out right
Great course for the money we paid. Darn good course if it was the usual price. Well maintained. Good design. Might be tough if there is any substantial wind.
We had a flaming deal at US$ 35. When you biggie size that for the Cdn$/US$ exchange rate it still came to Cdn$ 56 (taxes and fees inclusive) and that is still a very good deal. I'd have to think twice before I would pay a 35% exchange rate on top of the non-flaming price.
We zipped through the front nine in 1.75 hours and then slowed down on the back as we caught up to a very slow threesome. In the end we played in about 4 hours.
It's was a good test for the first time and I'd love to go back to see if I can beat it on the second go round. The white tees at 6,300 yds was plenty for me (15.8).
The starter was very informative about the course design and the various hazards and how to read the scorecard (layout, hazards and pin placements) to ensure some course knowledge.
Not only was he informative but was quite humerous, somewhat sarcastic and mildly abusive in his presentation of instructions but all in a good way (sort of reminded me of a Monty Python skit - "I came here for an argument. Oh, this is abuse, argument is two doors down"). But I jest. He actually set us up in the right frame of mind for an enojoyable round. Thanks to the starter - I think his name was Murray - for making our day.
Food and drink in the clubhouse was great. Chicken wings on Tues and Wed after 4 pm are $0.29 each. Beer is cheap compared to what I am used to. So it only made economic sense to increase consumption thereby keeping to my usual dollar outlay and not upset the household budget adversely. Our waiter was very accomodating by discounting our bill because of a minor mix up in drink orders. Actually, I didn't expect that he should discount, but when he did it was a pleasant surprise. Now that's why the US and A has it all over Canada in terms of service (and price).
Thanks to our waiter - do not remember his name - for making the day great.
Ok, so upon reflection, I will definitely be back, and hope that we encounter the same border wait times as on Wednesday, that is to say, zero.
Cambridge Golf Club
Played On 08/30/2015it's worth the drive
Good course but not your top tier.
I likes it so much I came back a week later.
Its a 60 km drive for me.
Not overly difficult.
Great condition.
Not too many hazards, although a few holes are a bit tight.
Played Sunday afternoon.
Not many people so pace of play is excellent.
Willodell Golf Club of Niagara
Played On 06/26/2015nice course, nice price
Good conditioning.
Greens were great, but sneaky tricky.
Although I did not, it does look like an easy walking course - flat.
Price was $35 with cart. Good value for money.
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 06/24/2015some greens are iffy
A few of the greens are still being repaired. So that brings the course down a notch.
But the price is down too. Enough to compensate?
I paid $45 plus tax. That's about right, maybe a bit on the high side. Perhaps should be $40.
Nonetheless, overall the course is good.
Those pesky helicopters are still buzzing around.
It's always enjoyable travelling down to Niagara to play any of the NPC courses.
Century Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2015I wanted to sit but could not
We played behind a tournament so it slowed us down considerably. We waited on every hole 6 and onwards.
Sometimes there were two groups on a tee as we approached.
Having said that we finished 16 in 4:45 (got rained out for 17 and 18).
It seemed like a lot longer.
But while we waited on every tee there was not a single bench to be seen anywhere. Had to resort to sitting on the grass.
The course was in great condition.
The mosquitos were bad so take some DEET.
It's an easy walking course.
We paid $27 walking rate. So it is good value for that money.
Twenty Valley Golf and Country Club
Played On 06/12/2015too bad we got rained out
Great course but has a couple of funky holes but I find that most courses do.
Make sure to get a yardage book if it's your first time. Course is well marked but you will find distance to hazards important.
It' looks like a tough one to walk (although many do).
We finished 14 then the skies opened up. Too bad as it spoiled an otherwise good round.
Greens are very fast.
Course conditioning is great.
We got a flaming deal for $35.
Great value.
Beechwood Golf & Social House
Played On 05/25/2015Needs some TLC
The course was dry, dry, dry. Needs water and generally needs some TLC.
Sand bunkers are not sand.
I did like that the yardage was properly marked.
It was very windy on Monday so made for a tricky round. But 2 of us in a cart went around in 3.5 hrs.
Food is limited to only hot dogs on a Monday.
But I did notice that they will send you out with beer in a ice filled cooler.
We paid only $34 tax included, and that is about all the course is worth in its current condition.
Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Heron Course
Played On 05/17/2015dollar for dollar it is good
I got a flaming deal for $20 walking. Otherwise it is $27, which is still good.
Got eaten alive by mosquitos so take the deet.
It is flat so an easy walking course.
Mystic Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2014I must play it again
-Spectacular course layout
-Great condition with a few exceptions
-A must play again
-Not a lot of facilites (club house, washrooms, etc) so don't expect a lot of of course experience.
- Bunkers are a little suspect.
Difficult for the first time, but to play again the second time will be a real treat now that I know the course.
Make sure to play the correct set of tees - choose one set less than you think you would otherwise play.
Bring lots of balls. Please don't look for your balls, just drop and play - otherwise it slows play down considerably.
Staff was great. They also had a ball spotter/marshall on the course to help speed up play. Our play was a little slow but because of the blokes we got paired up with.
Hunters Pointe Golf Course
Played On 05/26/2014it's worth it
Course was in very good condition except for bunkers - they could use some better sand.
This is an open links style course so when it's windy it is challenging.
Played on a Monday so was not crowded; pace of play was good.
Indian Wells Golf Club
Played On 9/1/2013Decent course but not quite the value for money as some others
This is a nice scenic course at the foot of the escarpment. It is tight in spots making it a bit of a challenge.
Even with the GolfNow deal it was a bit more expensive than other courses on a dollar for dollar basis.
Although the halfway house is perfectly located (you can order your snack on the way to the 9th green and pick it up after your finished) it is pricey. Sausage and beer was $14.
And the sausage was not that good.
Overall this is a good course but careful how much you pay.
Otter Creek Golf Club
Played On 7/31/2013Worth the drive
It's only an hour from Burlington and worth the drive.
I venture at least twice per year to this course and it never dissapoints. Holes number 9 is my nemesis and I don't like it but overall the course is outstanding. I play the blue/white tee combo but always tee it up from the golds on #18. Play the course as it is intended to be played and dont try to get cute or it will eat you up.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're working hard on fixing the winter damage and we'll be back to normal ASAP.
