About
I love to play the game even though it hates me...I am a decent golfer, but have my bad days like everyone else. Need to play or practice more regularly. Long ball hitter, can shape shots and even impress everyone, but myself!

Hernando Oaks Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/09/2014A little disappointing, but...
I booked a great price for trying the course. I will be back, but I was a little disappointed. Seeing the pictures and recent pics on Facebook had me hoping there was more "green" on the course. The Tee Boxes and fairways were in good to great shape. The greens had a lot of rough areas (patchy, bald and mud crusted), but they are massive in size. This course is great for shot making off the boxes. There are many to choose from for your game. A monsoon hit the course on the final hole so I could not finish the 18th. Not their fault of course, but was hoping to play the final hole after bombing a perfect drive to get on in two from the "blue" tees...I do recommend for a great booking price...I think they need to invest in the practice area. Fix the chipping green and insert a couple more flags for distances off the practice tee...It was in good shape, but with only two flags for about 100 and 160 yds, it could use a few more for dialing in before starting your round...Practice Green for putting needed some work, too, but that will reflect the bad areas of the greens on the course...Will be back for with the cheaper prices...The food was good and friendly...Way better than the last two course! Give it a try, but have a little patience with the bad parts. Hopefully, they get the repairs needed soon.
Oak Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2014Where's the "green" on the Greens?
First time to play this course. I did manage three Birdies on the back 9. However, the Greens are in horrible conditions. Why they even put the cups in these bald areas is dumbfounding. The Greens need a lot of work, the fairways are in really bad shape due to the baldness and sandy lies EVERY WHERE imaginable. Although, I will come back as I am teaching my 9 yr old Stepson how to play. The Front Tee separations will give him a chance to "keep up" until he gains better ball striking. The layout is really nice and easy for my game to have multiple shaped shots off the Tees...What makes it difficult is the lack of firm ground on the fairway. Perfect drives in the middle of the fairways are left with those "fluffy, dusty" lies with hardly any "solid" turf to strike on...Mentally, it will start to catch up on you as time and time again, you get penalized with a perfect drive, approach and GIR to be ruined by the course's conditions.
Brooksville Quarry Golf Course
Played On 06/05/2014Wait a while
The course was in poor shape at best. There was packed sand with missing grass on most of the greens. Wet and soppy or bald and sandy tee shots when not on the mats. Tee boxes need work to be flatten out. Ridiculous to have your Tee Shot 3-4 inches above/below your feet. Needs work and time to get repaired. Good course for working on short game, but without a green to putt on, you are only getting the approach shots dialed in on these postage stamp greens...

Played On 05/27/2014What happened to this place????
Not only was I shocked at the conditions of the fairways and greens, but the fact GolfNow nor even at the Pro Shop told me the greens were aerated. I played this course in December, and I enjoyed the conditions of the greens and fairways. On Tuesday, May 27th, there were mud patches and missing parts on the greens along with the aeration. Weeds and overgrowing grass was EVERYWHERE in the fairways. The bumpiness while driving the golf cart through out the course even in the fairway was bone chattering and full of kidney beatings. I will probably NEVER play this course again. I needs a tremendous amount of work. So, with their "under new management" sign looking rather "old", I would go see the course before booking a Tee Time. What a shame, because the layout and distance suits my game very well...
Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2014Good as Usual
As usual, this course is a challenge with good reward. The front staff has been more friendly than the past visits. Outside staff still helpful and friendly. The only set backs of this round was being behind a couple that were very slow and a couple of bunkers that were muddy/water filled. Lastly, what happened to "repairing YOUR ball mark AND one more". Sad to see such a great course getting damaged by laziness and fools. These greens have enough break and undulation to not have to contend with fixing three to four ball marks on a line...I will keep coming back.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2014Windy Surprise
I have played the Rolling Oaks several times. I think that is one of the most respectable courses here in the Brooksville area. I took advantage of the GolfNow discount of $45 as to the $119 regular green fees for the Pine Barrens Course. The course was in good condition. There are many challenges already with the sand coming to play EVERYWHERE, but incorporate a windy day and you can face even more challenges.
The cart staff are very friendly and helpful when you get to the facility. Inside, there are less than hospitable pro shop personnel. Unless, you are "known" to them, you are treated less than "desired" to be out there. Curt would be the best way to describe their demeanor. You can see the difference in their tone and mannerisms.
The food and staff was fine. The prices were fair and portions of the sandwiches are excellent. The practice facilities are massive.
The course was is great shape less a couple of greens that had bald spots near the played holes. Would have seemed more logical to move those pins to allow that area to heal faster. The greens putt true and the different Tee placements can accommodate all levels of play.
In summary, it is a beast that will bring shot makers to ensure a second shot. Good drives can roll into trouble. Blind Tee landings and narrow gaps can bring trees into play. There was some slow play, but it was under 5 hours. The wind was a factor on this round, but other rounds played had similar "waits" for the Rolling Oaks.
I shot my lowest round (80 for the par 71) since moving down here. I strongly recommend the front staff to review customer treatment, but I also still feel this is the best course for the GolfNow values that it can offer for the area...
Plantation Palms Golf Club
Played On 06/09/2013Total let down...from a high recommendation!
I was told of this course by the two some I joined when I played Seven Hills Golf Club. Their recommendation for this course was very high. I had been prepared for a great round. The Golf Now had a tee time for more than 56% off. I had a great deal, great warm up facility, but the course was in poor condition to play! The greens had been aerated WITH sand a week prior. They were impossible to read, putt or decide which mogul to bounce off of to putt. The layout is great, but the soggy conditions were a force to recon with. The GPS was off, too. Having not played the course before, I was unaware of the common place of the residents. Literally some tee boxes are 10 yards from kids screaming on your back swing! There were kids fishing in the ponds without getting out of the way. There were kids practicing on the greens. I will never play this course (if ever!) during the summer or a weekend again. I would give it a month to allow the course to heal properly should you dare. There should have been a warning from Golf Now about the course's condition! I didn't play Silverthorn Country Club because they were aerated recently. At least, their residents know how to behave on the course.
Seven Hills Golfers Club
Played On 06/07/2013Challenging despite moderate flaws
Initially the lay out is tough. With the present conditions of the greens, it is VERY tough. They are extremely bumpy and needs to be mowed. The tee boxes are in good shape with tough placement to allow for the course to be a challenge. I played the round to work on my course management. I used a 4-Iron for the majority of the par 4's to leave longer approach shots from the Blue Tees. There are several sections of the fairways that lack consistency, but the bunkers are very golfer friendly and consistent to their make up and feel. Enjoyed the round overall. For $15 green fees, it was worth the trip. The staff and snack bar were more than friendly. Recommend course management play and don't count on a break on the greens unless you are on a hill!
Silverthorn Country Club
Played On 04/21/2013Better staff and same poorly Marshaled greens
I enjoy this course, but cannot understand why there are players destroying their own place to play. What happened to fix your ball mark and one more? Literally, hundreds of them on each hole. Sunday staff (new to me as I am new to the area was much friendlier). Sand traps were not raked except by previous payers (IF they raked). The lay out demands course management play which I like. The pace of play is decent, seems to slow as the last holes wind down (might be the age of the players as to dramatic pace change and why there are so few repaired ball marks). If the course was marshaled at all, I bet better pace of play and proper etiquette would be experienced...I need to voice my opinion to Mr. Heard.
Silverthorn Country Club
Played On 04/20/2013Highly penalized by non repaired ball marks on greens and unknown condition of lie to be compact soil, sand or mixed...
The front staff has been less than pleasant. I met the owner Mr. Heard when I played my first round by happenstance. I remembered him from years back when learning the game. I am hesitant to continue to play due to the staff. This is a love/hate game with the same affection towards the course. One foot off the fairway and one has no clue of the under turf conditions. The amount of ball marks on the greens is in the hundreds per green. It is a shame to have so many players destroy their course. I find the pro shop main personnel quite brash and curt. This is a challenging course that requires you to have course management and leave the Gorilla Boy at home...I think I will talk to Mr. Heard when I get back into town to see if he can be of help with my issues. Good value, tough conditions, unfriendly staff...
