Haven at Haven Public Golf Club

Green Valley has a number of private & semi-private courses, but for the money, you just cannot beat Haven. It’s nothing fancy, just a well-maintained course that allows you to play golf to the best of your ability. Simple. Straight forward. Fantastic scenery. Nice people. What more can you ask for? What more do you need?

I'd say don't come here, but that would be a great disservice to the course, the manager, and the staff. This is a truly great course to play: it's not impossible to play (made for the everyday duffer), it's well-maintained, the staff are very pleasant, and the views and prices are unbeatable. I just don't want everyone finding out how great it is, and then descending on it like a plague of locust.
The only downside to our game, if you will, was that over-seeding had just taken place, and we were restricted to cart paths. This was difficult for two of our party, but the onus for that one rests on the one who made the reservations (yours truly). It also didn't help that the thick, new grass kept moving to the spot where my ball was moving, thus ruining my distance. Still, fantastic views of the Santa Rita Mountains, great folks who maintain the course and the atmosphere, and a wonderful day spent with family and friends... on a good walk ruined. Our thanks to the Management and Staff who do such a wonderful job.

Since I grew up here, I'm a bit biased. Still, I love this course: it has great views of the mountains, and the course itself is quite lovely. It plays well for all but the most talented, has wonderful staff (more like friends), and has great prices... when the snowbirds go home.

We were told that overseeding had not yet occurred, and it became very apparent one we hit the course. At times, it was difficult to identify the fairway because the brown form the rough blended into the brown of the fairway. The greens were definitely green... with many patches sand, and weeds. I've never seen a golf ball bounce along on a green like those yesterday: it was like putting on a washboard. Throw in the number of ball washers that were dry, and drinking fountains not working, and it made for a challenging, and less-than-enjoyable time for our threesome.
Thank you for your review. We regret to hear your time at Rio Rico was not as enjoyable as it could have been. We have informed our staff and crews and will ensure your next round is much better. Come back and see us!

Having only taken up golf aka A Good Walk Ruined last June, I have much to learn. This course is different than others I've played, but challenging and fun. The staff are really nice, understanding, and helpful. Some of the regulars are very intolerant of those still learning, and display little, if any, patience, but as a teacher, I may be a bit biased in that regard. Again, the staff were extremely understanding, and turned what could have been an ugly scene into a very pleasant educational experience. My thanks to Steve, a San Diego native, for going above and beyond. He is a consummate professional, and a young gentleman. TB is fortunate to have him.

Tortuga is a great place to work on your short game... And mine needs even more than most. For such a small course, it provides a challenging work- out.: sloping greens and narrow approaches are not forgiving of inaccurate play.
My only complaint is the pull carts: they need a little more maintenance.
Hi. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Haven Golf Course!
