Palmbrook Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2024Better than expected
Very much enjoyed the course. Fairways and greens were excellent. Some tees better than others. Typical of the mid range clubs, the areas off the fairways are not great. Nice range. Styrofoam cups and ice water available. Overall good experience.
The Golf Club at Lora Bay
Played On 08/02/2022Great layout but…
Tough day in the heavy wind. Some interesting and tough holes. Course condition was very inconsistent. Gravel in some bunkers not right on any level. Overall a nice layout but not worth $140 pp.
You need to put signs on the first and ninth tee advising that there is a creek XX yards from the green as the approach is blind. Unfair to first timers. On 14, my wife would have hit from up top as she thought her tee was probably part way down the hill. Disappointing to be only 100 yds out. Perhaps a sign indicating so women have a choice.
Time for some new carts. Seat ripped. Steering and braking lousy.
Union Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 11/27/2019Mediocre golf course
Another golf course with an unmanned bag drop area. Dropped the bags, parked, put on shoes then again lugged my bag to the Pro shop. They have a range but charge for balls.
The fairways and greens were in decent shape. Areas off the fairway was often hard pan and no grass. The tees overall were sub standard as they are often bare and were not remotely close to level.
Bunkers have little or no sand, particularly the fairway bunkers.
No plans to play again.
Wigwam Resort - Red Course
Played On 11/25/2019Fun course
The shortest Mens tees are 6300 yds. The forward tees are 5806. A shorter version is available as five of the 18 holes have tees knocking if whopping 28 yds.
The course is NOT difficult. Pretty much every green side bunker is 5-10 yds back from the edge of the green making it easier to carry to the green. The greens ran very well for this time of year at a good speed. The overall maintenance is quite good. The Par 5 18th hole is a challenge. The second shot requires you to thread a long club between the trees and over water cutting across at several spots.
Very good course for the money.
Coyote Lakes Golf Club
Played On 11/24/2019Interesting course
Good reception and friendly folk. The range is about 100 yds and literally use nerf balls so they don’t fly far. Sadly they chose to charge you for this. But if a joke.
Many if the holes have elevated tees where you hit into a valley. Some interesting holes. There are three par 3’s on the back which is different. There were two issues in my opinion, there is very little distinction between the fairway and the rough. Grooming Is just adequate . The bunkers are disgusting. More like quarries. It is unsafe hitting balls from bunkers with that much gravel.
All this course needs is some money well spent and more attention to detail.
Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
Played On 11/23/2019Nice track
Played the Gold course this trip. At just under 6400 yds. it played long after the rains this week. The over seeding is still long and but easy to get through. The holes varied and it never seemed you were playing the same hole twice. Many greens have false front which doesn’t excite me but nice layout overall.
Pro shop were great and the years until backshop kids did a good job getting us set up.
Playing the red course in a couple of days.
Grandview Golf Course at Sun City West
Played On 11/22/2019Disappointing
From the moment we arrived things became obvious. There was no bag drop and we had to lug our bags to the pro shop and of course, load them on the cart. They charge for range balls and the putting green was closed due to the previous few days rain. We went to get ice water. No cups. The pro shop gave us styrofoam cup,s, no lids or straws. We then realized that the ice machine did not give water so the search for water began.
Finally ready to go, we headed to the first tee. The fumes off the gas cart were nauseating. The cart rattled and shook. Needless to say, our water spilt from the cups.. the cart fumes did subside in time. We had to play cart oath only. The overseeding had not been cut and the course played very long. Now we come to the greens. I have been golfing in AZ for the past two weeks. We have played 0 different courses. The greens were very bumpy and needed to be rolled but slower than slow.
Overall disappointing. Pro shop could have told us that they had just opened.
Westbrook Village Golf Club - Lakes Course
Played On 11/19/2019Fun course
Overall, enjoyed the course. Found the course to be in good shape. The greens were a bit slow and need cutting as the overseeding is completed. The pace of play was slow as we waited on pretty much every shot and later found that a foursome of older gentlemen were the cause. Some marshalling would have helped.
I felt it was a bit pricey at $87.00 but overall a nice layout.

Thankfully we only paid $50.00 each to play here. The pace was painfully slow and not marshalled. The tees were often bare and I needed to search for grass. The greens although looked good, were like Velcro. You could hammered your putts/chips with little fear. The course was wet and the balls often got muddy. I have never seen a course that has so few ball washers and sadly, they were often placed at the forward tees?..
We will not be back .
East at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 11/17/2018Love these two tracks
Played East today. The course is in marvelous shape from tee to green. Greens are fast but fair. Many subtle breaks near the hole.. There are a couple of fairways that have some bad patches that appear to be a disease of some sort but roll your ball a few inches and the grass is perfect.
Pace of play this day was slow. Bernie did his best to keep things moving.
It would be nice to see a combo set of tees indicated on the scorecard, as the drop from 6376 yds. to 5747 is a big gap. Many par 4's at or beyond 400 yds. However, nice course.
Eagle Trace Country Club
Played On 11/16/2018Loved the layout but...
At no time did I see a marshal to move things along. It took us 4:45 to complete the round. The group ahead were not very good and probably should have agreed on taking a max on a bad hole and move on. My wife and I were paired with two guys that did not play the game well or very often. Despite their many shortcomings in playing the game, we still managed to keep up to the group ahead.
In comparison the the Jacarandah courses, the condition here was just okay.
West at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 11/14/2018Loved the West...
Years ago, the West course used to get a bad rap as being not nearly as good as the East. That may have been true but not any longer. I was told that they put some money into the West and it is very obvious. A prettier course that than East but also a good challenge. It too, in in great shape. The yardages are a better geared to the average golfer at 6411 and 6009. Of course longer from the tips.
]My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the course and were disappointed we only got to play it once on this trip.
Thank you for giving some love to the West Golf Course! It's definitely a local favorite but is sometimes referred to as the East's little sister. That's definitely NOT the case! We're glad you love it. Come see us again soon.
Pines at Woodmont Country Club
Played On 11/12/2018Disappointing
They are building a new clubhouse. The current wasin bad decay and the washroom area is disgusting.m
The greens were decent but the tee area was in bad need of being cut. The bunkers all appeared to have large stones in them and the edges needed grooming. There was no course Marshall so the two slow groups ahead of us did their own thing.
Overall better options in the area.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review about Jacaranda. We're glad you found the course to be in marvelous shape! Rest assured, there's no disease on the course, just some necessary maintenance as we transition into the winter season. We hope to see you soon!
