Seaforth Golf Club
Played On 10/03/2020Seafave
Love Seaforth, always a great day on a great course. Weather a little cool for early Oct but certainly tolerable with outerwear. Course was in solid shape - greens good and very little rough, most notably behind the driveable 16th green!!!
Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa
Played On 06/27/2020S.O.S.!
It’s sad to see this once proud community/spa resort course fallen to this level. It is truly on life support and unless someone steps in with badly needed TLC (GolfNorth is the only viable suitor I would think) this little gem will go the way of the dinosaur. The fun and great - Carrick touched up - once Muylaert layout is still there, but the evidence of neglect is also abundant... from grassed-in bunkers to damaged tee boxes and greens that I’m sure have either been cut with substandard equipment or poorly trained greens keepers.
You’re just as likely to run into a disgruntled property owner from the housing community at Sawmill as you are another golfer theses days. I may try another visit later in the summer to see if anything positive has taken place but for the time being this has the eerie feel of a ghost town minus the tumbleweeds, although plenty of other weeds are currently taking root.
St. Marys Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/21/2020Good times
Course was in good shape as many are lagging a little behind this year - they had spring aerated greens so they were tough to putt but will be fine later this week I’m sure. Course always challenges more than I expect so scoring is a challenge here.

Great variety of holes that definitely don’t all play alike. There is also plenty of challenge with some length as well as narrow tee shots requiring precision. Par 3’s play somewhat on the shorter side. Don’t fall in love with this track however as sadly another nice southern ON golf course is soon turning into a subdivision - joining former sister golf north property Paris Grand as well as Ingersoll GC at a later date as well.
It’s unfortunate that these quality courses are being sacrificed when there are so many drab, pedestrian golf courses in the area that no one would miss.
Grey Silo Golf Course
Played On 08/14/2019Good, not great
Good course but a little unconventional. Felt at times like I was playing random holes from 2 or 3 different courses mashed together. While many might appreciate the eclectic non-stale nature of this I prefer a golf course that has 1 identity and feel to it. Pace of play was pretty brutal for a Wednesday PM as well.
Tarandowah Golfers Club

Weather was perfect, course conditions were perfect. Hands down the best public play golf course in SW Ontario.

Played On 07/13/2019Tale of two Sawmills
The course is challenging and fun to play and it is also conditioned quite well. While a few holes are somewhat tricked out playing at 90 degree doglegs etc. it’s only going to be slightly annoying the first time you play. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the other amenities at the “resort” which have definitely seen better days. That’s fine with me however as I’m only there to golf and the course is still being well taken care of so far...
Tarandowah Golfers Club
Played On 06/15/2019Terrific Tarandowah!
This course is always a pleasure. High winds brought lots of challenge but the course is somewhat soft (not wet) after the wet spring making it playable even with the winds up. Course was in fantastic condition making it undoubtably the best public play in the London area right now...
Oaks of St. George Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2018Pleasant Surprise
Never having played here there were many surprises, some good, some not. First the good - conditioning was a solid positive with fairways, greens, tees all in good shape. The layout and variety of holes was also mostly pleasant and at times very visually striking. Not so good was the cart which stalled out several times and we were later told that was the norm with an outdated fleet of power carts. While there were many very nice, bordering on great holes - there were also some that were awful with either punitive forced carries (8th Par 3) or senseless trees blocking greens (1 and 4 most notably). I could live with the pine guarding the left half of hole one but the 2 trees guarding almost all of the Par 5 4th made no sense. This could be a great hole - especially if the drainage/creek in front was developed as the hazard more so than the trees which should have been long removed. Also disappointing was the uphill Par 5 18th which is set up in a very gimmicky manner forcing a layup in front of a lagoon/pond which feels very unnatural.
Overall the good definitely outweighed the bad and it a course I would like to play again and hope to return to this season.
Crumlin Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2015golf for all and all for golf
12 holes, says it all. This course won't substitute for a 18 hole, full length course nor is it trying to. It is meant to be a refreshing twist with a focus on speed of round and introducing beginners to the game as well. The course plays quite easy and lacks any stuffiness or pretension found at many courses. Each green featured regulation cup as well as a 8 inch cup for kids or any who prefer the ease provided by the larger hole. I say kudos!
Pine Knot Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/03/2015Pine Not
Very strange course. Poorly conditioned and absent of any flow. Many holes made little or no sense, after the 2nd hole we literally had no idea how to get to the 3rd hole or even where it was. The cost wasn't exorbitant but I wouldn't play it again for half of what we paid.
Willow Valley Golf Course
Played On 7/11/2013Pristine Parkland Golf
Very playable parkland style golf course with some challenge and a definite focus on conditioning. Most holes are nicely framed from the tee box and the greens are undulating and a challenge to hit in the right area if a one putt is to be acheived.
North Granite Ridge Golf Club
Played On 6/16/2013Best course in Muskokas!
OK, I haven't played them all - but I prefer this course to nearby more upscale bretheren Deerhurst and Grandview.
I am not a fan of Muskoka golf, but this course limits the elevation changes, blind shots and forced carries over swamps and other gimmicks most courses around these parts like to employ. Overall each hole is unique and plays to itself - with very few holes where you can even see another one. Overall the layout is more like something you might find in the Carolinas rather than the middle of the rugged Canadian shield.
Hickory Creek Golf Course
Played On 6/7/2013Great Layout, Great Value
Execllent value for money - very interesting holes in a course that is as mature as many older country clubs.
