Decent track. Kind of a catch 22.

This course is interesting. Huge fairways where even missing 50+ yards left or right generally doesn't mean you're not in play, however the greens with their undulations and speed are very challenging. Only a couple of notable holes for their level of challenge but a fun track nonetheless. Carts could use an upgrade but that's minor. The green speeds and undulations make this desirable to play again.

Decent conditions but a bit boring of a layout

Greens ran nicely despite having some bad spots here and there. Tee boxes were in excellent shape. My gripe with this course is that it's a little boring. No real risk. One noteable hole was 17 though that's a fun look. Good carts though!

Keep coming back

Came back here for the third time in three weeks and I can't get enough. Played a different tee box today and I was shocked at how much it changed the feel of the course. Love the challenge this place offers, but I understand how some others don't. Two of the guys I got paired up with were like 25+ handicaps and complained about some of the forced carries but they also had 4 tee boxes ahead of them they would have been better suited for instead of what they played. I
also like that I'm forced to used so many different clubs because it really gives you a ton of risk reward and not everything here is just about smashing driver. If this is how Tommy Fazio designs all his courses, it's pretty awesome. Thanks for the reasonable afternoon rates!

Lovely course

Yes it's tight. At some points, the fairway is so tight you're practically gambling that your drive is going to land there. That said, it makes it exceptionally fun.

Greens ran very fast though some of the pin placements were overly punishing (placed on crests). This is a great course to play a tee box up from what you usually do and rely on your irons exclusively.

I only pulled driver twice all day, and that was plenty. I tend to have a low running ball flight with my driver, which is dangerous on a course like this where areas can slope into water.

Carts are standard. No gps. Easy to navigate course. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely give it another go soon.

Great course. Tried writing a longer in depth review but GolfNow opted to not publish it. Bar is open again. Greens running like a 10. Really nice carts with an actually useful gps. Already have been back twice in a week because no other greens are running this nice right now.

Awesome experience

Decided last minute to head here after not prebooking a tee time elsewhere on a Saturday and had a great time. Last time I was here was over a year ago, and now this place is a whole new experience. Bar was open this time, carts have unique GPS I haven't seen before that can track your shot distance and tracks how on pace you are. Pretty cool. Carts are also very comfortable compared to most. Staff seemed genuinely happy to be there.

Tee boxes looked a bit beat up but we're cut short so they weren't an issue. Greens were excellent, running faster than a lot of what I've played lately. Lots of challenge here and a lot of fun. Bunker sand, which I saw a lot of, was actually excellent and fluffy. Range balls were high quality and not the shag garbage I experienced here last year.

Looking forward to playing here again!

Great Par 3

Avid 4x+ per week golfer, first time playing this course. It's definitely gorgeous. Being on the island, incredible views and beautiful palms around is a treat. Totally a walkable course and recommended if you have a pushcart. I took a cart but probably won't if I go back.

The cart guy is a bit of a dick and absolutely should be wearing a mask our of respect for the guests even if "the state said he doesn't have to" but everything else was nice. From an actual playing conditions point of view, this place is super well maintained but I did expect the greens to run faster. If they ran about 25% faster, I'd certainly come here more often for the iron play.

No driver needed. Biggest club I used all day was a 5i to reach the green on hole 3 and 4. Otherwise 7i was the biggest needed all day. This can be a great course to play with a single wedge too - get around with just a PW and a putter. You're not going to reach all the greens that way, but you'd get a ton of practice with that wedge.

If you respect science, the health of others, or your own health, don't play here

As of this post, over 100k new infections per day, and 2800+ deaths per day from COVID-19.

In the pro shop tiny office sits a schmuck, one maskless schmuck with his arms crossed and angered that you dare ask for a single cart when you don't know the person they want to pair you with. He makes some statement like "if you're worried about it, just don't play" and a reminder that the state doesn't REQUIRE them to provide single carts.

What he's telling us is he only believes in doing the minimum, and only if someone is watching. Despite practicality and science telling us otherwise, this guy knows better, and is willing to put your health at risk and the health of his customers at risk, as long as they pay. If you dare ask for a single cart, you're offered a preposterous $15 upcharge to do so. Otherwise you'll be sitting right next to (not even six inches, let alone six feet) with no divider even, to another player. You know what really slows down repeat business? Customers dying.

This attitude of doing the minimum extends to the course, which would otherwise be great, if they did some maintenance. Alas, if your attitude and guest experience drives customers away, there's no money for real maintenance, so you fill the bunkers with rocks instead, and let disease take over parts of the greens, and let the tee boxes go shaggy.

Just don't give places like this money. This is a course that needs a management shakeup. It probably won't happen, because they think the 4somes of 90 year olds will last forever, but it should. This is a lovely piece of property that's ruined by lack of thinking like a guest might, vs an angry-at-the-world middle manager. They ask for $35+. It's worth about $20 at peak for the golf experience they provide.

And for what it's worth, your desk guys telling customers to tip the cart guys isn't how it works. The cart guys earn tips by being personable, being there, and doing their jobs well, not because some guy at the desk repeatedly tells you to "throw them a few bucks because they work on tips".

Run by schmucks

This place should lose their ability to be a golf course for their blatant disregard for COVID. 200k new cases per day, and they want strangers to pair up without dividers, or pay a premium to play this rat track if you're being respectful of science.

Any management that thinks like this about COVID doesn't care about their players. If that's how they treat science, what can you possibly expect from the course?

Don't give this place money. Speak with your dollars and let this place shut down.

Good for iron practice

Great course for some iron practice with a couple of driveable par 4s to keep it interesting. I'd recommend this course for anyone needing more practice with their short irons especially. I think my most commonly pulled club was a Pitching Wedge, with the occasional longer par 3 needing as much as an 8i (145+). Definitely gives you opportunities to use clubs you may not otherwise get to play a lot, as well as experiment with some 3/4 swings.

Don't bother with the putter as the greens are like a shag carpet with holes burnt in it, but a 60° Wedge is your friend here. Use it and learn to get the ball within tap-in distance on this shag and your short game will no doubt improve.

That said I don't think Lakeview should be charging $30 for a round. That's way too much for this tiny course. Peak pricing should cap at $25 here and stick to $20 here when possible. At those rates it's very approachable to beginners, and not a wasted round to better players that want to come here to practice. (wasted because if I can spend $30 to play a proper 6500+ yard course, I'd rather... But for $20, no question I'm heading to lakeview once a week or more for some iron work)

Love this course

This is one of my favorite courses in all of Palm Beach County. Super challenging from the tips and the layout adds to the tranquility. That said, the change over to gas golf carts is a little sad. I understand why, but part of the beauty of Madison Green is silently whizzing through the trees hole to hole and not having to hear loud engine noises, or street noise. Just you and the course. There are so few tranquil courses left with so many housing developments and links style layouts that Madison Green is a nice change from it. If they could get higher capacity battery carts (as they used to use) instead of the new gas powered, it would be ideal.

That first world problem aside, this course is wonderful. Conditions are always great, greens roll nicely, could happily play here every day.

Why do you keep your greens like a shag carpet?

This course has a nice layout with some fun challenges, but then you get to the greens, and it feels like someone forgot to see what a green should be like.

These things are cut so thick you might as well use a wedge. It takes a full swing with your putter to cross the green edge to edge.

If this were sub $20 for a round, it's acceptable. But at any higher, please cut those greens a little tighter so people can really putt. I'd give this place 5 stars if they only got the greens in better shape. I hadn't played here in over a year, came back hoping for the best, and it's pretty much identical to last year's conditions so it'll be another year until I return.

Just fix the greens and this place goes up a notch! Alas, it's a municipal course, so nobody really cares and this is the state it will remain forever.

Wonderful course

This course is wonderful in all ways. I'm admittedly a bit concerned about their new delivery sushi aspect, as there just isn't enough volume to dictate the sushi is moving fast enough to be really fresh, however the fact that they even try is miles ahead of every other course. I applaud any proactive food and beverage efforts like this.

A real bar. Actual food options. A course that can challenge even the better amateurs (the tips are looooong here!), Good carts, happy staff, well maintained greens. It really has it all and I'll certainly be giving them more money over the coming months!

Ok course, but like putting on a shag carpet

I hadn't tried this course before, thought it had decent looking reviews so I'd give it a shot. A+ for their food and beverage options. A+ for their staff friendliness. Those greens though? Soft, furry, slow, with patches of dead grass all over. How any other reviewer considered these greens "OK" makes me wonder how bad the courses are that people play normally.

To me, the greens here were equivalent to the neglected greens at Delray Beach Golf Club, and Lakeview Executive course, and make the game boring for those of us that actually like skill in putting. Having to full swing my putter to get the ball to roll across the green is just boring golf. Watching it bounce off patches of overgrown grass or dead spots makes putting a gamble versus a skill.

Sure it's got some nice views, but as someone that plays hundreds of rounds per year, I wouldn't pay more than $20something to play here again.

Well done. Keeping a good experience together in a county of underwhelming public courses.

So many courses operate on a "let's cut everything down to bare minimum quality to make money!" approach, and Palm Beach National is the opposite of that. They actually try. Sure there are spots for improvement like that filthy relic of a clubhouse, but I feel way more confident coming to this course that the experience is going to be positive than many of the courses nearby. Staff that like being there make a huge difference. Food and beverage actually available and not an inconvenience. Music on the range. A place to chill outside with a beer. Just A+ for working with what they've got.

First time here. Fantastic course!

Played here today, day 2 since they've been open, and the conditions are absolutely pristine. The greens are so so nice too. The people working here seem genuinely happy and that really helps. The bar area needs some help but it IS a full bar. Having played other local courses, this is a step above.

Highly worth it.

Great course with some fun long Par 5s and staff that actually care to be there and make your day enjoyable. Will definitely play here again.

Great food and full bar as well. Not typical Florida dated clubhouse with grouchy bartender, but actually a real place you can get a good meal and a real cocktail. If it were closer, I'd play it more often.
