Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
Played On 03/03/2022Should be much better than it is (currently)
Had a great check-in experience, even walked me through some of the holes and layout. 1st Hole center of the fairway and it was pure dead pan. So much for being in the fairway. Greens were overcooked with poa springing up randomly.
Layout was fine, relatively a short easy course, driver maybe twice on the front. Course was packed, often waiting on the next tee box with the group in front of us while the foursome in front teed off. I'm guessing they stacked their tee times on top of each other or maybe it's just always that busy, but a Thursday mid-morning seems a bit silly. Took 2:30 hours to finish front 9 and then I had enough and left.
Value for 18 is there, but not for 9 holes. Doubt I will ever go back.
Vidanta Golf Los Cabos
Played On 12/26/2020Decent track for the money, but so slow
Not a bad value course, only 9 holes. Some tee shots are tight and require some precision, greens are fairly straightforward but we’re kind of burned out. Hard to stop anything from running and this is not a links course. Pace was decent to start then grinder to a halt. Stacked up foursomes just wasted the round. I played nine and couldn’t go for 18. Took over 2 1/2 hours to get through nine holes.
If you need a cheap alternative to the other locals, this could pass. However I prefer Campestre any day.
Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/16/2014Who needs Sea Pines..
Nice course, very playable tee to green although some narrow drives from the far tee box. Recommend you practice putting prior to teeing off as these are the fastest greens I have ever played. Even with the warning from Kirk in the pro shop, I was amazed at how quick they played..
Kirk was also exceptional and got into a lengthy discussion about a variety of topics. Recommend this course as an alternative to the Sea Pines known courses.
The Golf Course at Adare Manor
Played On 06/29/2013A True Gem in Ireland
Adare Manor is an incredibly underrated course in Ireland, hidden behind the traditional links courses. However it easily holds its own against some of the bigger and more popular tracks.
Adare is meticulously maintained, fairways and greens in perfect condition. A light rain made everything a little slower, but still very challenging with quite a few risk/reward shots to be had. Pin placements for the day made scoring a challenge, but still fair. I was one of the early tee times and was able to make it through 18 in 2:30 hours.
Highly recommend you add this to your list of courses to try when in Ireland. More than worth it!
