Braintree Municipal Golf Course
Played On 07/27/2023Watch out for Wasps in the sand traps
Greens are in good shape, fairways below average. Sand traps are full of wasps, so do your best to avoid them. Pace of play was good except for the group of nine on the last three holes without a ranger in site

Course is in great shape even with all the rain only 14 and 18 fairways had casual water. As it is most often thought the pace was of play was very slow. With a ranger only asking about it on 17 tee after 5 groups were backed up

I have been under four hours the last two times playing here with foursomes in front. Due to town water restrictions the fairways are now mostly burnt out, but greens are still in great shape!

I cannot believe there were no water jugs anywhere on the course and not even a bev cart to capitalize on it. It was 85 and scorching out… will not come back

Played On 08/15/2022Slow play and no hydration
I tried to give this course another chance, but it was worse than last time… a 5 hour round is not acceptable with 10 minute tee times… as a walker starting on the 10th hole also means 4 trips between 18 & 1 and 11&12 instead of one and it is a long trek. The front nine had OK pace of play, but the back nine (which was actually the front) was atrocious with one group holding up about 5-6 groups behind it with 2.5 holes open in front (at one point 4 groups were on the same par 4 — and we had an average wait of 7-10 mins on Every tee box) and of course not a ranger in site to move them along. Again, the could not be bothered to throw out a few jugs of water on the course, leaving us dehydrated and waiting most of the day. There are many other courses that move faster and provide water in the area.

We arrived to hear they were ahead of schedule off the first tee... and that was the last time. We waited on nearly every shot. Rangers did nothing to move folks along. There appeared to be a threesome holding everyone up with about 2-3 open holes ahead of them. We were over 5 hours for our mid week round. Further, the greens were extremely slow and furry. There are many other places to play in the area and you should go to those courses.

Played On 08/16/2017nice course - always slow on the back nine
Greens are fast and true... rest of course is in good shape... give yourself time as the back nine plays about a half hour slower than the front

This used to be a very nice course with great fast true rolling greens...in places it looks like a war zone, all your putts bounce, it has clearly not been taken care of. Don't play for over $20 for 18

This course is in horrendous shape. There is barely any grass in the fairways. NOT WORTH $38 to walk. Worth it for $10 or less maybe

Until today I had never played this course in under 5 hours, today it was 3.5 hours ... the greens were in the best shape I have ever seen them in ... A great round, hope this is what this course will be like moving forward

Worth the trek from Providence, greens in excellent shape...

The course is tight and challenging which is part of why the pace of play is slow. The greens are fast and in good condition. The carts have GPS but are old and very dirty and poorly maintained. The biggest issue was no water coolers anywhere on the course, but you could buy bottled water for $3 from the cart girl who came by once n the round. Probably some better places to play for $70...
Agree about the lack of H2O stations during play - great point! Course design slowing pace of play is dead-on too. As for "better places to play for $70," not so sure about that. For the golf alone, taking nothing else into account, there's probably no better value - even given the $70 price tag.

Decent layout ... Greens are in bad shape for the most part with lots of bad hops and very slow
