Great Layout

Really enjoyed this course and agree that it is a top 10 in CA to play. Great layout that is challenging but fair. The afternoon prevailing wind makes this course a very tough golf course. It should be a Par 73 though. The 3rd hole is a 460+ Par 4 into a very stiff prevailing wind. I am not the longest hitter but my drive only 220yds and after a good 3 wood I still had 80yds left. It's a 3 shot hole so just back the tees up 20 and make it a legit Par 5 even without the stiff wind.

Afternoon Delight

The hot weather has taken it's toll on the course with some bare spots. The greens were a little overwatered and a bit shaggy today. Pace of play should have been faster but overall a great day. The course is difficult from the black tees and a real test. The layout is just really well done and the greens are great.

Goat Track

I was excited to try this course out especially after reading comments on pace of play and the course coming around. The layout on the front nice straight out then straight back in. It is a pretty canyon and the holes are nice enough with a creek cutting through and bordering several. The greens were in pretty fair condition too with only a few bumpy, clumpy, bare areas.

That was the good part. The tee boxes are just awful. It was wet from the storm earlier in the week so I excepted a little slippage, but the grass is so long and bare in so many spots I couldn't keep my footing amongst all of the mud. The fairways felt like rough when there was grass. So many bare, muddy and flooded spots everywhere. Again, footing was horrible and just general no relief to find a spot for your ball with a decent lie.

The rough was all weeds and crab grass. In many areas it was hard to find where the fairway ended and the rough began.

Oh well, Ive said enough. Sadly this is a goat track I won't be back to visit.
