Reston National Golf Course
Played On 09/20/2014Fun Layout - Requires Full Complement of Shots
Played here many times. Reston is an older public course that gets lots of play. Fairways and greens are in very good condition given the summer and early fall busy season. Greens are a bit slow and some of the rough around greens is too "clumpy". Still, the course has plenty of character with elevation changes, interesting doglegs, and opportunities to score really well or really poorly. The initial drive on this course is always important, given long part 4s. Par 3s and 5s are best chances for scoring.
TPC Treviso Bay
Played On 09/10/2014TPC - Nice But . . .
The Treviso TPC is a nice layout with nicely manicured fairways and greens, but the high price, lack of a club house, and indifferent staff left me unimpressed. A few of the holes are not very memorable. Par 3s were best part of course. Not what I expected from a TPC layout.
TwinEagles Golf & Country Club - Talon Course
Played On 05/13/2014Fun Layout
Two courses at Twin Eagles. Played the Talon, which is a Nicklaus course, and find it an interesting 18 holes. Lots of traps and strategic use of water, but not so prevalent that it intimidates you from having a good round. Fairways for the most part are generous. Large and well maintained practice area and particularly like the chipping/sand practice facilities. Natural setting with lots of deer, bunnies, and haters along the way.
