I played Arizona National in March 2023. The course conditions were very good. When I played recently, most bunkers had not been raked in sometime and they were like hitting off hard pan. The rough was too high as it looked like it had not been cut down since the over seeding. In most cases the rough was 3 inches high. On a few occasions we could not find drives that were 2 feet off the fairway. Greens were fine. They need to get out and maintain the course take the bunkers and make sure there is adequate sand in them so they are playable. As a minimum, the rate should be reduced to reflect the current conditions if they are not going to maintain the course in the Fall.

I have literally played a few thousand rounds in my life. Without question these were the worst course conditions I ever experienced. Tee boxes were an uneven area of unrepaired divots. Greens were bumpy, slow, uneven and impossible to even make a 3 foot putt. Sand traps were uneven and shaped like salad bowls, with steep edges and very much flat space. The only good news was there was not many people on the course so we could finish in 3 hours.

Nice layout and in pretty good condition. Grass in the fairways is a little thin. There are a couple of holes that are unfair - 10 and 18. With the dormant Bermuda a good drive is not rewarded as the fairways slope towards the water and there is nothing to stop the ball from rolling in the water. As the dormant Bermuda prevails for a large portion of the playing season, either waste bunkers or higher ridges on the fairways are needed on these 2 holes, to prevent good drives from getting wet.

Is a challenging layout. Very good practice facility.

Excellent practice facilities, good pace, fairways and greens in good shape, no grass off the fairways so hit it straight.

The overall course conditions and pace of play was good. My complaint is with the back 9 course layout. It seems like they did not have enough real estate and squeezed the 9 holes as best they could. Many blind shots and target golf required on about 5 of the back 9 holes. Otherwise, greens had good speed and fairways and bunkers were well maintained. You will likely enjoy the course more after a couple of times playing it, so you know what club to hit and where.

Many holes have small landing areas forcing less than driver off some holes, even par 5. Number 15 only missing a clown’s mouth on the green.

Greens were slick and difficult. Otherwise an easy layout with few hazards. Rough has very little grass at this time, so that is a drawback.

This is the second time playing in the last 4 months and both times the greens had been heavily sanded, almost unplayable. Fairways and around the greens could could use more grass, a lot of hard pan. Great layout, but not its best.

Greens were fast, however very undulating. Important to keep the ball below the hole. 1 1/2 - 2 club wind the day I played which played havoc with club selection. not sure if it always windy or whether this was an unusual day.
