Good value but the pro shop staff need to learn about customer service.

An interesting course, the first time out a few hidden ponds caught me out. The rough was sparse, maybe it is the time of year.

Once we got past the surly, couldn't care less guy in the pro shop, things improved. The starter and Marshall were pleasant and helpful.

Yes we would probably play here again, the price is very reasonable.

Good condition, very large greens.

We played the day after some significant rain. The course was still very wet, it was cart paths only. Four and a half hours to play wasn't too bad in those conditions.
Lots of water on the course, not all of it visible when you were playing a shot. A course guide would be very helpful.
The greens are extremely large. If you just play to the middle of the green you will have some mighty long putts.
As others have written, there is a golf school operating at the course and they overwhelm the range. Regular players were relegated to a crowded, very wet section.

worth the drive from hilton head

Fairways are lined by mature trees. Several dog legs and ponds to contend with.

The course was fairly wet in places, maybe half of the holes were cart path only.

We played in just over four hours which isn't bad, but we felt that we had waited on every hole.

Good condition, interesting course.

Made very welcome from the bag drop right through to when our clubs were put back in the car.
4h 30m to play. Several marshals on the course but there was not much they could do, it was just full.

Summer grass was just beginning to grow so the fairways were a bit patchy, but perfectly playable.
Interesting course with lots of doglegs, well placed sand traps and ponds. All surrounded by tall mature pines.
As first time players we were told to play the white tees, this resulted in several silly short holes - we moved back to the golds and it was much more satisfying / challenging.

Very fast to play

We completed our round in just over three hours. We were not pushed and didn't catch up with the group in front of us.

There were a few greens that had been patched and the repair still showed, but overall the course was in good shape.
Some of the old paved cart paths are in poor condition, they have a lot of newer paths using pine straw as base. Range is small.
Brand new clubhouse but no bar or food on mondays.

worth the drive

A long way from hilton head, this course is almost at I95. However, the course has friendly staff and a fairly challenging layout for our first round of the year.

Greens are a bit tough at this time of year, but very true.

No clubhouse yet, but we were told that they have started working on it.

Certainly worth playing, especially at the price.

Short but challenging Course

Many elevated tees and carries over marshland. On a number of holes, I moved to the back tees just for the experience of playing the course at its best.
Small landing areas on many holes, this is not a course where you can just hit long then go find the ball.
As others have commented, a cart is a must - there are very long hikes between most holes. Also, no refreshment cart and the club house was closed midweek.
We found the pro shop staff to be casual and helpful.

Nice friendly course

No clubhouse yet, they have a perfectly adequate temporary pro shop and snack bar. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Three may be no forced carries over water, but water can come into play on many holes. Enough challenge to make the course interesting and the price is right.
We joined up with another couple and played in a comfortable four hours.

Very interesting course

We were greeted warmly by all staff that we met in the pro shop, the bar and on the course.
Lots of sand and water on most holes. The tee shot on no 1 requires a drive over water and a sand trap, it certainly gets your attention.
Live oaks frame many of the holes, it looks really nice and it shows you the shot you need to play.

We played they after some very heavy rain and the course suffered because of it. That is our only issue with the round.

very fast pace of play.

We played in about 3 hours.

Lots of holes seemed to be around 380 to 400 yards from the white tees

The course has obviously seen better days, for example paving on cart paths was broken, but I found the course to be interesting and challenging.

Greens are not as fast as at the Hilton head courses (that cost 3 times the price).

Clubhouse is not finished, it looks like it could be really nice when it is done.

Fairly easy course

Surprised at how little water came into play, the course is wide open with sand traps as the main obstacle.. Sand is really good, very consistent and a pleasure to play from (frequently).

White tee blocks are way forward, there were 9 par 4s around 350 yards or less.

Fairways and greens were in really good condition.

Staff were all very friendly and efficient

We got a great price through golfnow, which made the game an absolute bargain.

very wet

We played the first day after several days of rain. Cart paths only, which was OK for the conditions.
Very wet in places, 18th tee in particular was very wet, we teed up just behind the tee box.
Some bare spots on greens but remember, this is March!
Lots of alligators in the ponds.

interesting par threes

Three of the par 3s are waterfront and very scenic.

Much more challenging from the white tees than from the golds, which missed mist of the forced carries of the tee.

Extremely welcoming, course OK

The course is being improved - several areas had been patched but the grass not yet blended in. Mainly in good condition. (We played mid March, which probably explains the unfinished repairs)

The wind makes this quite a challenging course in places.

We were able to play at our own pace, no holdups at all. We played three rounds here and finished in under four hours each time.

Pro shop staff are extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were actually introduced to several members during our stay. Pro shop prices are very reasonable - no price gouging here.

The only issue is that Edisto Beach is so far from anywhere, maybe an hour drive from Charleston.

Good couyrse at a great price

Very welcoming staff, met us at the car and made sure we had everything we needed.
After a four month winter layoff, I found the course tough but the layout was very pleasant to play.
Par three holes are.not long, but are not easy.
Price throughgolfnow.com is an absolute bargain. It is in good condition and well maintained.
We would recommend this course to anyone.

best course condition on jekyll

Played mid March. Fairways on the other courses were brown and in some cases top dressed but pine lakes fairways were green.
With dormant rough, course plays wide open.
Same issues with staff as on their other courses. Example - starter couldnt be bothered to acknowledge my wife existed, he just about walked through her to ask me for the coupon (which she had held out for him to check).
Fast pace of play on a reasonable layout but again we left unsatisfied because of poor staff interaction.

Poor Service

Very unpleasant starter - he had a problem with our reservation? discuss it with the pro shop, don't give us a hard time.
Pro shop staff not at all helpful in getting us tee times - I overheard them going through the replay spiel to others, just after we had been told no times were available. We felt we were second class citizens after their regulars.
Fairways were very heavily top dressed. Very few course markers, maybe we were supposed to buy a yardage book!
Restaurant menu good bad bad, slow service.
Much better courses in the area that cost less when booked through golfnow.

This is the week before a national schools event, so their minds may have been on other things, but that is not valid excuse for the poor service we have received on several trips to this course.
