Ansty Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 03/20/2022Bramcote Waters Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2019A nice short course
I was looking for a local 9 hole course which would help me in my recovery from an ankle injury - 18 holes are just too much at the moment.
Bramcote is a lovely course with an interesting range of holes, each with its own challenge. Plenty of trees and quite a bit of water to keep you on your toes. Given it is only February,, the fairways were in good condition and the greens were reasonable.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the bacon bap after the round was excellent.
All in all, a good day out.
Windmill Village Hotel, Golf & Leisure Club
Played On 07/13/2018A great little course
Despite the continued heat and dry weather, the course is still playable and the greens are in good condition- much better than some other local clubs. The fairways are a bit burned and cracked in places and the lakes are looking a little low but that cannot be avoided.
The course was virtually empty when we arrived but there were more playing by the end of the round.
All in all an enjoyable afternoon’s golf.
Brandon Wood Golf Course
Played On 06/30/2018A nice course suffering from the hot weather
I’ve played this course a number of times and always enjoy the challenges but the course is suffering from the abnormal heat (as are many others).
The fairways are still reasonably green but the greens are going brown and cracking badly making putting a bit of a lottery. They are also incredibly hard so keeping a ball on the green is a real challenge, as is getting the putting lengths right once on the green.
All of this, coupled with the heat, badly affected our pace of play but at least no one was playing behind us.
Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel - Red Course
Played On 05/01/2018A Nice Course in a Lovely Setting
Played as a two ball on a quiet afternoon. The first impressions of this course are of a well maintained facility with some impressive signature holes.
Despite the recent abysmal weather the fairways were generally dry and free of mud and the greens were in great condition, although a little slower than might have been expected.
Only a couple of temporary tees and no temporary greens - not bad for this time of year and after all the rain.
In summary, a very nice course and with sufficient challenge for most golfers.
Brandon Wood Golf Course
Played On 09/25/2017A nice quiet course on Monday mornings
Played Brandon on a Monday morning, 10:18 tee time and enjoyed having the course to ourselves. Saw only one other two ball and a couple of singletons during the full round - just like a private golf course!
It had rained most of the night and literally stopped as we arrived. Great timing! The course was amazingly dry and free from standing water apart from a couple of the greens and one fairway.
Throughout, the greens were incredibly fast given the amount of rain that had come down over the preceding hours.
The course has plenty of interest for medium to high handicappers and is kept in very good condition.
All in all, a most enjoyable round.
