Grand Lake RV and Golf Resort
Played On 02/13/2016Nice little course but....
A short nine-holer you play twice to make 18. 6 short par 4s and 3 par 3s, all in a row in the middle. best walked, no cart needed. The staff are friendly, the course is well maintained and surprisingly challenging in places. The course makes good use of bunkers, has undulating, small greens, which makes up for how short the holes are. Leave your three wood at home, unless you want to use just it off the tees on 294 yd par 4s from the tips! All is all it's a nice little niner for old people and duffers but I wouldn't recommend it to a serious golfer.
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 02/01/2016Once Grand, still ok
This was once a prestigious course but it's a little rough around the edges now but still a challenging and interesting day out. Friendly staff, pace was fine though I know on the weekends they really pack them in. Some tough holes, ok greens. I'll be back.
Wildcat Crossing Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2015Good value
For an inexpensive Bermuda grass/Florida course it was one of the best ones we've played. You stood a chance with a wedge, most of the time at least. Pace was a bit slow but we fixed that by heading back 7 holes; the advantage of a late tee time. Wide open from there.
Links of Sandpiper
Played On 12/16/2015Silly Staff
I've heard of courses that seem to resent Golfnow bookings and this is one of them. We showed up early for our tee time and despite the course being half empty the officious and unkempt woman behind the counter grouchily demanded we wait 35 minutes to be paired up with another twosome otherwise we'd 'be there on their time' instead of Golfnow's. Now this might make sense if the place was busy but it wasn't. We of course ignored her silly demand easily as there was no starter (and any smart starter would rather get us out and gone than make us hang around on an empty course) and played 4 and a half holes by the time we hit our tee time. We had no one ahead and no one behind until the 14th hole when we caught a foursome.
As for the course, a few hard par threes, no grass on the fairways to speak of, passable greens. Would I play again? Never.
Atlantic National Golf Club
Played On 01/09/2015Nice course rough greens.
Nice course but always busy. Fairways are decent but the greens were a little rough. Some tough holes with well protected greens and some challenging bunkers.
Friendly staff. Nice layout.
Scotland Yards Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2014Rough around the edges
You get what you pay for. For the price it's a nice scruffy course with reasonable greens. Carts paths are awful. It's pretty barren so go on a windy rainy day to get the full Scottish course experience and you'll have the place to yourself!
Ocala National at Golden Hills Country Club
Played On 12/23/2014Great course
Ocala National is possibly the best public course in Marion County. Highly recommended. Some beautiful holes, some tough holes, some blind second shots and great course design with well-protected greens. A great opportunity to use all your clubs, including your sand wedge.
Ridgetown Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/01/2014Nice course
Ridgetown is a well taken care of course. Small undulating greens keep things challenging but not crazy. Nicely guarded Par 3s to keep them interesting. Highly recommended.
Ocala Palms Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2013Nice course.
Nice friendly course. Easy distances but tough on slicers and hookers. I love the fairway lengths; not buzzed short and dry like so many Florida courses. It's a nice height that lets you get an iron off cleanly. Friendly staff. Fast electric carts.
