I have been visiting Sherman Hills for several years, I've probably played this course more than any other course in the greater Tampa area. I really love the layout of this course, the front is pretty much wide open, grip-it-and-rip-it, and the back requires more finesse and target golf. There are rolling hills throughout that you don't usually see in FL. I like that the par-3s are all different lengths, and #7 is a really neat hole. The conditions when I played on 3/19 were mixed, as has been the case since I started playing here. The front was in great shape, fairways were reasonably plush, and the greens were all in great shape and rolled decent. They are by no means fast but they roll true. The back 9 is a bit of a different story. The greens on 13, 14, and 17 are not good. They have been in terrible shape for years, and for whatever reason they can't get them to come back. There are large patches of no grass at all. I'd venture to say there's more area that's dead than not between the 3. They are admittedly in a slightly better spot than they were 2 years ago, but they still mar what is otherwise a fun course with a great layout. The great thing about this course is that it drains exceptionally well, so even during the rainy season, it holds up pretty well and doesn't immediately turn into a swamp like many Florida courses, since many of them are indeed built on what used to be swamps. So - I do believe this course is worth a visit, just go into with the understanding that the 3 greens I mentioned will likely be in rough shape. The rest of the course is enjoyable. 18 is a great Par 5 finishing hole.

Loved the course. First time playing, I got a HotDeal for $18 which is a true steal. If you have a chance to play you won't regret it. Booked as a single player, starter paired me with 2 other singles and they were a lot of fun. First 6 holes we played at our own pace, then on #7 we caught up to a 4-some that was SLOW. Thankfully # 10 is a par 3 and the ranger was there and told them to let us play through. Back 9 was awesome but hot. Course was in great shape. A few of the greens had some bare spots but all pins were placed far away from those spots.

Played with a few of my buddies this past weekend. Overall the course was in pretty good shape. The fairways were good, greens looked pretty good but they were SLOW. They had a lot of rain the day before and there weren't too many overly wet spots. This is definitely a tale of two 9's though... The front nine is very boring. Nothing unique about those first nine holes, in fact I don't even really remember anything about them. The back 9 is a lot more fun, the quarry holes are definitely worth the visit. I don't know that I'll be back though, unless I get a crazy good HotDeal
