Hideout Golf Club
Played On 07/23/2020Excellent Course and Friendly Staff, May as Well Walk
First of all, I accidentally booked my round for a Friday but thought it was for Thursday. When I showed up a day early it was no problem and we got right on. outstanding customer service. Of course we had a cart, but with wide fairways and cart paths only I would have played 4 to 6 shots better had I walked because I always got to the far side of the fairway only to find I had the wrong club. Also, distance markers are almost non existent.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. No crowds so I played 18 holes in under 3 hours. Course is in excellent condition.

This amazing course has excellent greens and the level of difficulty depends almost entirely on your choice of tees, It can be relatively tame and forgiving from the white tees and a real bear from the back tees, especially if the wind is blowing. This is one of my favorite courses and I will play it every chance I get.

Played On 05/17/2019Great Course, Poor Management
Had an 8:28 tee time and arrived at 7:30 to warm up. Driving Range was closed. We were a threesome followed by a twosome then a single so we were annoyed by having someone playing up our (donkeys) all 4 hours. Group singles with others to prevent this annoyance.

Played On 05/16/2019Best Public Course in Texas
The staff is always friendly and helpful. Even though the course had recently been flooded it was in great shape thanks to the maintenance staff. Even with mowers everywhere (that's a good thing) and some fairways still needing cut, the course was excellent as always. Chuck is the best in the business and many others could learn from his style.. Friendly town and I have never encountered a rude golfer on this course.
Brady Municipal Golf Course
Played On 12/20/2018Windy Day
I knew it was going to be windy but chose to play anyway so there is no one but me to blame for any issues. The course is fairly open and I hit almost every fairway, but the greens are small and hard to hit even on a good day. This day the wind was so hard the ball would not stay still on the greens. Not the course operator's fault at all.

Played with my grandson. No crowd, played in under 3 hours. greens were excellent. One of the best courses I have ever played and a great bargain. Would play this course every day if I lived nearby.

Played On 07/12/2018West Texan's Perspective
I'm from west Texas where we have no grass at all so it was nice to have lush green fairways and near perfect greens. We played during high winds and thunder so the course was more challenging, but nice wide fairways really helped. First gut of rough was perfect length to add difficulty, but not penalize a slightly errant shot. I loved this course and will definitely play it again.

Played On 07/11/2018Needed a Range Finder
The course was nice but I often hit through the fairway on doglegs and layup shots. The first cut of rough as way too tall and a gouge it out shot was often required. With a range finder I could have avoided this problem. The day was windy so any minor mistake put me in deep rough and added about 6 strokes to my round. Greens had been aerated recently and were a bit slow and rough, but that's a necessary maintenance issue.
Playing as a single I was paired with a long hitter and we played from the back tees. I'm almost 70 and handicapped so it was a struggle for me to shoot 91. Humbling because I play to an 8 handicap. Still, I would like to play the course again.
Hello. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting The Golf Club at Texas A&M. We hope to see you again in the future.
I rated the pace of play, 4 hours, as average since that is what is considered an average time to play 18 holes. I don't know how else to rank pace of play in order to get an excellent rating. The web site says there is a driving range so one would assume the range is open when the course is open. If that is not the case then the range hours should be posted so players like myself who require proper warm-up can schedule tee times accordingly. Staff friendliness was average, just what you would expect, nothing more. An offer of a bucket of balls to warm up would have shown some enthusiasm rather than just "The range is closed". Finally, we were playing behind several groups, one of which we were told was a foursome. We adjusted our play so as not to push the group in front of us, but to maintain proper distance. The single just played right through the twosome behind us so we let him play through. He then hit a ball in the deep rough and spent considerable time looking for it while we waited. I do not understand why any course would allow singles to play on moderately busy days. Pair them up with a two or threesome. Finally, a fair value for the money means just that. It was fair. It could have been great but for a few issues as detailed above. I am sorry if 2 stars seems low, but on that day it was the proper rating.
