Long time before I return...

Had a 11am time get there 30 mins early, no carts. When I finally got a cart, it was a broken busten pile that had the roof frame held on to the body by duct tape. Then they double booked our time and then let some of their friends in front of us and then tell me my time is 11:15. Didn't get to tee of until 11:27. Then the 23 minutes per hole pace was the best part of the day. Having to wait 5-7 minutes between shots, then 10-15 minutes to tee off on next hole. This place is going downhill. The course itself it great, but it's run horribly. They got rid of the clubhouse, so don't have any clubs, or items you might need to golf. Heaven forbid they sell anything. The driving range is $5 & get unlimited balls, unless the crates at each driving range bay is empty and they don't refill them. Then you have to take any 1 or 2 you can find in other bay and just deal with it.
None of the carts have windshields and are very cheap low end carts. They used to have a starter, but don't anymore. Their attempt at a starter was the guy who let his friends in front of us and moved our time back 15 minutes and didn't even tell us. They were all laughing and talking about things in past they did and before you know it I'm teeing off 25 minutes later.
To pay $85 to play golf, you expect to have better then what darkhorse offers. Any course that I've paid this much money to play at has carts with windshields, a clubhouse, a driving range that has balls you can hit, a starter that understands how to space people apart and not squeeze extras in.
We didn't want our day of golf to literally be a day, so we skipped the last couple holes. Even with us doing that, it still took us almost 5.5 hours. If you count from when I SHOULD have tee'd off at 11am, it was 6 hours.
Thanks darkhorse for ruining a great day for golf. Not to mention ruining our family get together. Before the change to what this place is now, they had a great clubhouse loaded with golf equipment, gear and food. The course wasn't in as good of shape as it is now, had soggy bunkers, and poor drainage, but was about $40-$50 on average and if rather play on that course than the nicer newer 1 at $85 with absolutely nothing else to offer.
I won't be returning here for a while, if ever. Alta Sierra is in same general area, maybe 20 minutes away and is more then half less and course is just as nice. They actually like their customers and don't cram friends in, in front of them. I live an hour away and don't mind driving their but not worth coming back here.

Not good today

The course was not in good shape. The greens were just aerated, but was so bad that they were like bunkers cause there was more sand then grass. Also the bunkers were either uneven concrete, or others were still like concrete, but mounds in the bunkers 4 feet tall 4 feet wide. When I booked the time, there was no message saying that about the greens, or the bunkers.
A couple times while our group was teeing off, guys who work there would be in a cart driving towards our tee. They did not slow down, or wait, just Kept going.
There was plenty of spots where the fairway was mushy
I usually love playing here, but an hour drive wasn't worth it.

Hi Adam, we sincerely apologize if you missed the aeration notice and for the less than desirable experience. We hope that you will consider coming back in the near future.

Great course

I'm a 14 handicap. Really fun but challenging course. Lots of blind Tee and approach shots, so will be better when I play again. It rained almost an inch last night and was cart path only but course was in shockingly good condition. They closed the restaurant/bar b4 we made the turn which was around 1:50pm. Will play again

Great course

Little hard for me, was long from whites, but really fun. Pace was a little slow, and no food on the course was a bummer.

Great course

I've played here over the last month, and play 18, 36, 18, 27, and 18 today. From the first 18 to today's 18 the course has slowly gotten really nice and close to great. They're working hard fixing the issues from the flooding. Greens have been better every time too. It's not perfect greens yet but more then worth the money. I plan on coming back many times again. Plumas has always been my home course and I love it, but this might be my new home course.

Great scenery, Gps on carts

I loved this course. I am a 20 handicap so usually shoot around 88-90ish and this was fun but difficult. Nice over water shots both from the tee and from 2nd shots from the fairway. The only thing I can complain about isnt golf related, it was a food issue. The drink girl who drives around the course was WAY to beautiful to be working at a golf course and was nice. The bloody mary I had tasted great but was $12.55. Way too much and there food prices are outrageous, $10 for every sandwich they offer. Anyways the golf was amazing and the course conditions were extremely nice. I will be back again.

very nice greens

I would of given this course 5 stars in the past when I only played this course, but ive played Apple Mountain, Paradise Valley, and Rancho Solano a few times lately and they are above 5 star courses so now im spoiled. Anyways this is like my home course, and will always enjoy playing but it is a really nice course. Open space, descent rate of play, and they usually pay a lot of attention to their greens. Will play here for a long time
