Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club
Played On 04/16/2018Good Course, Lousy Service
I just played Queen's Harbor for the first time on Monday,8/16. I did enjoy the layout of the course and the greens were perfect. I wish I could say the same about the service. My partner, a local fire fighter had just come from work and was in need of breakfast. He did not realize that the only food the course had available all day was the snacks and drinks from the on course golf cart. Secondly, because I was from out of town, I chose to rent clubs rather than pay baggage fees and expected a $20-25 fee which seems about standard for most semi-private courses renting clubs. I had just played the Friday before at another Jacksonville club which had rented clubs to me for $20. I was astonished to find that the charge was $50 to rent clubs! Third, since I had done a fairly quick warm up, I had not unsheathed the driver on my $50 rented clubs. At the first tee, it turned out the driver was a right handed one. I am left handed and every other club in the bag was left handed. Well. perhaps this is a minimal oversight and easily corrected. We called the clubhouse. We figured we were just starting and someone could get us a left handed driver quickly. But no one answered. I did not get the driver until the third hole. Fourth, our third golfer started complaining that his cart was running low on electricity around the 8th hole. His cart had to be replaced. Fifth, as i approached the 17th tee, I was low on water and saw just in time a water bucket at the tee. Well it was perfectly placed except for the fact there was no water in it. Any of these issues in themselves amounts to little (with the exception of the exorbitant rental fee), but the accumulation reduced my enjoyment of the course significantly. I will not play there again.
