Has Promise, But Did Not Deliver

No sign for the course on the street. Drove past it twice before guessing the correct turn. Staff was great layout is as well. But the course conditions were horendous. Aside from aeration, which I cannot penalize them for, the fairways were devoid of grass and were as hard as concrete. Two of us in the group snapped shafts of irons trying to take normal divots. I heard this about the course but wanted to give it a try for $21. I'm sorry, but I cannot ever come here again.

Hit and Hope!

I was excited to play a Donald Ross design, which are generally full of challenge, bunkers and blind shots...nice if there is a course map. This course had nothing...no course map on the scorecards, no yardage book available, no hole layouts at the tee boxes. Additionally, not one hole had yardage markers...not even on the sprinkler heads. NOTHING. And since most holes were either doglegs, blind tee shots (or both), the best you could do was hit and hope. All the flags were red, so you did not know pin placement (or thought they were all forward). Made for a frustrating day. The most horrid locker room I have ever seen at a private club (rusted, steel H.S. lockers). No attendant, so I have to change in the parking lot. A member hit a drive at my girlfriend as she stood 200 yards down the fairway over her own shot. He never even acknowledged it as we let them play through. No ladies locker room, so she had to change in the men's bathroom while I stood guard. After the round, the cart attendant didn't clean our clubs because he "did not recognize us as members." I'll never play Lu Lu again and will warn all my golf buddies about it. It's ashamed because the course is wonderful. Donald Ross would be disappointed.

Great Bang for Buck!

I play this course almost every week for 10 years. Has consistently improved over the years. Very playable and short layout, with one of the toughest Par 5 tee shots in NJ (#14). Holes 12-15 often have drainage problems as they are at the lowest point on the course, so avoid it after a heavy rain. Otherwise, its a joy to play at an incredible price ($20-$35). The "pay and help yourself" cooler at the 5th tee is awesome!
