Easier of the Two

Played both courses during the same week. The Summer Unlimited golf deal is AMAZING. If you can handle the heat then by all means DO IT! cart fee is included as well, but you will have to pay a 30$ group caddy fee for each round.

As noted in my Red Course review you can tell these courses were designed for winter Florida golf to be 'firm and fast'. There were some slightly rough spots here and there but honestly these types of courses nowadays dont always need to be perfectly green and lush and perfect...so long as the greens roll true. For Florida golf in the middle of summer the greens were excellent.

This course has HUGE fairways. There is a place to hit the ball to make the hole easier..but you can still miss your mark and end up in the fairway. Just dont get cute with your teeshot and you will be fine. Approach shots are the key to this course. The par 5s again are a lot of fun, theres one or two driveable par 4s, and the signature par 3 7th is breathtaking.

Both courses have no rough..just fairway then sandy duney waste areas. If you stray from the fairways then play a yellow ball..white is hard to see in sand ;)

Awesome Course. Great Deal!

Took advantage of the Unlimited Summer golf package. for a single it was 199$ per night (149$ double) for 2 nights, 3 days unlimited golf, then you get a 3rd night at the hotel free!

The courses themselves are very unique for florida and you feel like you are in a different place altogether. It is totally secluded and quite beautiful actually..especially in the morning and evenings.

The course was in good summer shape. It was extremely hot and humid but the course was still full in the morning hours. You can tell the course was designed for winter play...'firm and fast' as the grass goes dormant. As it was in the summer the course did not roll out as much as preferred and the fairways were kept longer than usual Id suspect...but they were still in great shape.

I played one day before the greens got sanded, then again right after..and honestly the sand made them easier to putt. Less of that summer grain to factor in. They probably rolled about a 10-11.

The bunkers are deep and have that waste bunker feel. The sand is thicker too, and your ball will PLUG into the deep slopes (happened 3 times for me) so avoid them at all costs!

The par 5s are all reachable in two, and there is a drivable par 4 as well.

Only complaint that I could see..and purely from a course ratings standpoint..is to have a combo tee on the card between the tips and the next tee. As is the tips are 7200 and the next tee is 6500...would be nice for a lot of good players that dont have the length to play the tips to have a rated option around 6900.

Good course with surprising beauty

Played both courses on a day ticket of 95 pounds. Worth the money and was not a hard walk. This course is the longer and newer of the two. It is relatively flat walk with no large dunes although there is some undulations uphill and downhill with plenty of tall (but playable) grass, well places bunkers and gorse to avoid. The layout was quite fun and when it gets breezy a few of the holes along the cliffs will catch your attention. The wall holes were very fun too! Conditions of the greens were excellent. Some great picturesque views!

Some gorgeous views!

This course took us all by surprise. Others have said dont let the yardage fool you and they would be correct. It gets pretty windy so you really have to keep it low and play for position. Most of the holes were quite unique and along the water and hills....though there are a few boring holes that run up and down from each other. Good thing there is that makes the effective fairway like 150 yards wide :D The greens rolled great and were of moderate speed (id say a 9 -10). Fairways were typical links. Overall a very fun course!

Play it twice!

Cruden Bay is Amazing! The first course we played on a group trip of 7 golf courses. SO many unique and quirky holes that you will need to play it twice (like us) to have an idea of how to play it. Multiple blind tee shots..but the View from atop the 9th tee on a dune over 100 feet high is AMAZING! The par 3 4th hole feels iconic to me with its views of the town to the left and boats in the riverbed. Course conditions were spectacular though we felt the taller fescue near the fairways could have been cut down a tad and would have helped speed up play. Greens are firm but true so play for the fronts (or shorter!) and let it release. We got lucky and didnt have too much wind..and temps stayed above 67 most of the day! I played in shorts and underarmor.

The staff was amazing as well. They accommodated us by pushing our afternoon times back which allowed up to grab lunch between rounds. They had a table reserved for us in the restaurant and the food and service was fast and well priced.

VALUE AND VIEWS!

Played here as a warmup round after our overnight flights since we didnt want to spend a lot of money to duff it around in our drowsy state. Were were VERY pleased with this course! The front and back 9s definitely have a different feel (front being more hilly and newly designed but with some awesome views of the estuary, back 9 was original (and better) layout and runs along the estuary) The greens rolled true but were on the slow side. Fairways mostly firm, and not a lot of deep fescue near the fairways so you can at least find your ball and get it out. If you want a pleasant and inexpensive round in good conditions then do not pass this one up!!
