Oliver's Nest Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/23/2023Great course
The course is in great shape. Greens are well taken care of and responsive. The staff are very friendly and seem to genuinely care about ensuring customer satisfaction.
My only issue is that the course layout can be a bit confusing. We weren’t always sure which way to go to get to the next hole, but we lucked out with having a couple of members behind us who were happy to point us in the right direction. 😊
We just moved to a place that’s only a few mins from the course and we look forward to our next visit.
Southbrook Golf and Country Club
Played On 04/15/2023First round of the season
This was our first round of the season and, like many, we were excited to be playing again. Southbrook didn’t disappoint. The course, especially given the time of year, was in pretty good shape. The greens were difficult to read, some fast/slow and covered in sand, but to be expected.
Pace of play was a bit slow, but it was a nice day and we were just happy to be out.
Love some of the changes (ie; new tee blocks on 11, 13 & 18).
The only complaint I have is no washrooms on the course. Fine for guys, who can easily duck behind a tree, but not great for us ladies. Again, given the early date, not surprising but a bit inconvenient.
One strange, rather unexpected thing happened tho…just as we were taking our shots to the green on the 18th hole, a couple of kids (toddlers) ran on to the green and took my husband’s ball. They continued running around for a few minutes until their parents finally came and got them. It was (kind of) funny, but the outcome could’ve been bad had any of us hit them with the ball.
Added bonus, we were paired up with 2 guys who were quite pleasurable to be around.
Thanks for a great opening round, Southbrook! 😊
Beechwood Golf & Social House
Played On 08/20/2022Looking forward to coming back
The pace of play was slow, but we weren’t in a hurry. I really liked the course, but it was quite wet in a lot of areas. Looking forward to coming back to try it out on a drier day and when the improvements are done.
King's Forest Golf Course
Played On 10/10/2021A little disappointed (this time)
Generally King's Forest is one of my favourite local courses. Today, unfortunately, that was not the case. The course was far too wet to allow players on. I did, however, receive a call prior to my tee time to inform me that carts would not be allowed, due to course conditions. We had planned on walking anyway. After checking in the starter informed us that the course was, "a little soggy in spots." It would have been more appropriate to say the course was unplayable. There were several *new* water hazards (lol) and your feet would sink with every step taken. Our push cart wheels were leaving huge grooves in the course and had to be picked up several times or risk getting stuck. If you hit a high ball, it was embedded. If you hit a low ball, it would leave a wake in its path. No roll whatsoever.
Anyway, this doesn't change the fact that this course is great...just suggesting you pick a tee time on a day that it hasn't recently rained.
Riverview Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/30/2021Course review
Like most courses this year, thanks to the 5 week shutdown, it's in pretty good shape. The rough is a bit long in some spots but, again, expected because of the shutdown/lack of use.
Pace of play was slow, however, we're just happy to be out, enjoying the weather and golfing.
The only critique I have is the lack of washrooms. It's a dealbreaker, for me, to not have washroom facilities or, at the very least, a porta-potty, somewhere along the front/back nines. There were lots of female golfers on the course and I'm sure they, like me, are not keen on having to wait until the front nine turn/round is over. That is the only thing stopping me from recommending to friends.
Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Sparrow Course
Played On 05/29/2021Course review
We've played Sparrow many times. It's one of our favourites, especially at the start of the season. It's a relatively easy course - but challenging enough after a Winter (and, thanks to ridiculous prov. gov rules, Spring) of sitting idle.
Pace of play was slow this day. Normally my husband and I can get through a round, at Sparrow, in about 3 hours. This one was just under 5 hours. Had it have been a little less windy/cold, the long round wouldn't have bothered us much but, because it was a bit chilly and very windy, it made the round slightly less enjoyable.
The course looks better than it has in the last 3 years we've been going there - fairways and greens especially so.
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2021Course review
This was our first time golfing at Rockway, but will not be our last.
The course was in excellent shape. The rough was a bit long, but to be expected with only a days notice of courses re-opening. Fairways and greens were fantastic.
The pace-of-play on the back half was slow, but we were just happy to be out and everyone else seemed to be in the same great mood.
The staff are wonderful! Everyone went out of their way to be warm & welcoming.
I love the outdoor hand-washing stations on the course and, as a woman, I have to give props to courses that have washrooms because many do not.
Great course! Highly recommend.
Chedoke Civic Golf Course - Beddoe
Played On 05/22/2021Course review (Beddoe)
The fairways and greens are in the best shape I've ever seen them in, unfortunately that is likely because the course, like all others in Ontario, was/were closed for 5 weeks. The rough, however, was quite difficult because of how long the grass is. Basically, if you didn't hit your ball in to the fairway, your ball was either lost or you would be holding up the players behind you while you looked for it.
Only other suggestion: please open the washrooms (midway on Beddoe course). Lots of ladies golfing, but no washroom facilities for them.
Southbrook Golf and Country Club
Played On 09/24/2020Course review
The course was in pretty good condition, though some of the tee blocks were dry/hard. I'm extremely happy to see some work being done to improve the course, including several new, elevated tee blocks. The pace of play was slow(over 5 hours - walking) but we didn't mind because it was nice out and we were teamed up with ppl who were fun to be around. My only complaint is the lack of washrooms on the course. Having no washrooms on the course, especially for us female golfers, is unacceptable.
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
Played On 08/23/2020Great course
This course could easily become a favourite. The layout is great, the condition is fabulous and it’s just difficult enough that it’s challenging, but you’re not spending the whole time cursing...kind of (lol).
Highly recommend.
Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Heron Course
Played On 06/06/2020The course is in great shape. Pace of play was fabulous. We were paired up with a really nice couple. Weather was great. Good day.
Only complaint is the price of the cart...approx $50 is crazy.
Ironwood Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2020Great value
We played Ironwood for the first time on Saturday May 16, 2020. The course was in good shape, pace of play was surprisingly good for how busy it was and the staff were very pleasant & diligent about cleaning carts/washrooms/etc.
The course is great for beginners or for those of us who were playing our first game of the season - fairly straight fairways, little chance of losing balls, etc.
Great course & great value.
Southbrook Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/18/2019Disappointed w/pricing
We golf at Southbrook approx 1 - 2 x per week. We generally find the pricing reasonable.
After looking on Golf Now for times & pricing we called to see if there were earlier times not listed on that site. The gentleman who answered the phone said there wasn’t. I then asked if, since I had him on the phone, we could book the 3:30(ish) time that was listed on Golf Now at the same price as what was advertised. I was informed that they could not match the $47 w/cart)/person price on Golf Now. I hung up and booked through Golf Now. Once at the course we were paired up with a guy who had just showed up, hoping to get in a quick 18 on his way by, but the price he was given was $31 (with a cart).
This is extremely disappointing, especially considering how often we golf at Southbrook and the fact that the course was in pretty rough shape due to the earlier rain and a golf tournament that was there earlier in the day.

Great course!
Southbrook Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/21/2019One of our favourites...
Southbrook is one of our favourite local courses. The staff are fabulous, very friendly and inviting. The food in the clubhouse is excellent and the pro shop has everything you would need.
If I have one complaint, it’s the pace of play. Quite often there are lengthy waits at each hole. For us, that’s not a problem because we’re never in a hurry, but that seems to be the one thing that fellow golfers we speak to complain about.
Great value at a great course.
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 05/19/2019Nice course
We were pleasantly surprised at the course conditions considering the wet Spring we’ve had. A few muddy/wet areas, but nothing to complain about.
