Links of Lake Bernadette
Played On 04/19/2016Nicely maintained course
Challenging course layout. A number of the par-4s require you to use a 3-wood or shorter club due to the sharp dog-legs off the tee. Nice grassy fairways (something not commonly found in Zephyrhills) and well maintained. Each golf cart provides map of each green and where the flag is placed. However, I felt the yardage markers were not consistent. You may want to bring along a golf GPS device. Overall, a nice experience.
Sugar Isle Golf Course
Played On 09/18/2014Course has plenty of water holes
This course makes you pick your spots on when to be aggressive. Lots of water hazards. The greens were in great shape. However, the tee boxes and fairways need some maintenance. As a once-a-month player, it was moderately challenging. The weather was excellent and we had a good time. For the person who wants to work on their target golf skills, this is a good course for them.
Portland Country Club
Played On 07/11/2014Nice Course, Poor Clubhouse
The greens and fairways were smooth and well maintained. Had some trouble finding the tee-box for hole 17. Made me think the holes were renumbered at some point. The clubhouse is old and in need of a serious renovation. However, the value for the money was great. We got to the course 45 minutes early and were able to play right away. There were some hills, so walking all 18 holes would be a challenge.
Worth the trip!
My father and I played 18 holes and really enjoyed ourselves. There are many bunkers throughout the course and the water hazards made you think more about each shot. The layout of the holes make you think you are all alone. Not like some urban courses where you are in danger of getting hit by someone else's ball. The fairways were well cut. The greens were very firm and fast. The clubhouse is unimpressive, basically a little better than an outbuilding. I would still recommend this course for its views and layout.
Country Side Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2014Hills Galore
Very hilly course with a number of blind shots. Cart paths are so steep, we had a hard time trying to stop on the down slopes.
Franklin Golf Club
Played On 8/4/2013Lots of hills
This course sits in the middle of an urban area, but you don't realize it while you are playing. Each of the courses 9 holes have hills to navigate. These hills, tight fairways, and small greens make this a challenging course. The hills make for awkward lies even when you are in the fairway. There are many blind shots, so be aware where the group in front of you really are. The small greens were smooth and maintained very well. However, the tee-boxes are crude and marginally maintained. Hole 4/13 is tricky. It has two greens vice the two tee boxes that the other holes have. The price we got on Golfnow.com made this a great value for 18 holes.
Kittyhawk Golf Center - Falcon Course
Played On 7/25/2013Challenging but fair course.
The "Falcon" executive course was well maintained and the greens were smooth. More than a handful of par-3's are over 200 yds for the men. There didn't seem to be a lot of people on the course, compared to the two other regulation courses at Kitty Hawk. We'll go back again.
