Albion Ridges Golf Course - The Rock Nine
Played On 08/24/2023Always a very nice round!
Albion Ridges is always a very enjoyable round, regardless of what 9’s you play. Well kept with lots of undulations and challenging throughout while still very playable. When I’m in the area (within an hour or so) I always make a point of playing it! Well worth it, the staff is great and you’ll never get a better value!

Played On 08/05/2023A challenging but very playable track
This is why I love Arthur Hills designs, challenging but also playable. There is plenty of room to drive the ball off the tee but the miss is often punishing. Visually, the course is outstanding with every hole being a quality golf hole. The course itself was in excellent shape and the greens, well, especially where the pins were on this day, tough with not so subtle but also subtle breaks. Well worth the play and a very enjoyable round. One thing - at a course with this price tag, a small bucket of range balls should be complimentary. Other than that small thing, course was fabulous and pace of play, good! Would recommend!

Played On 03/13/2023Little difference between the hole
Decent course in terms of shape but if you want to hit the same club all day long, this is your course. Whatever you hit from 130 yds, off the tee, you’ll hit this about 12 times. An executive course where nearly every par 3 was about the same length. Disappointing for the price paid.
Staff was very nice though, friendly and welcoming.

Played On 08/21/2020A nice course
This is a nice course with some challenging holes. I thought that the back nine was the better nine with the better holes. In Iowa so it was windy but the course does run like a links style course does. Greens were on the fast side and did run true.
Practice facilities were decent but put some water on the practice tee - really struggled just getting a tee in the ground. Nice clubhouse and the staff that was working I would describe as average in friendliness, nothing to impress but not rude either. First time playing the course and I would play it again, although when in the area, I would chose The Ridge in nearby Sioux Center first.

Played On 08/20/2020An Excellent Track
First time playing this course as I was in the area on holidays. This is an excellent course that is in great shape. It was windy and warm the day I played and although the course was green, it ran well too, much like a links style course so that did help to reduce the wind's effect. The greens were very fast and true and in great shape. Some really beautiful holes. Challenging but fair. I will definitely play this course again when in the area. Clubhouse and practice facilities are awesome too! Play it, you won't be disappointed.
Albion Ridges Golf Course - The Rock Nine
Played On 08/19/2020A beautiful course!
This is a beautiful course, all three nines don't disappoint! Well cared for, tough but fair. There is room off the tee which most average golfers like. Greens are fast and true and I don't remember a straight putt. Definitely has a links style feel to it but I like to refer to this type of golf as prairie golf, not true links style but also not traditional style either. Some really nice holes - Boulder is the best nine! Staff is great! Would definitely play again when in the area - this was the second time playing as I am not from the area. A great value for the money and if you are from the Twin Cities, definitely worth the drive and probably save a few bucks too!

Played On 08/17/2020Incredible value and an Excellent Track
I played this course on their Monday to Thursday special, $25.00 with a cart for 18 holes! I mean..what a great deal! This is an excellent course, in good shape with an excellent layout. The only down, when we played the front nine, the bunkers were in poor shape but I think they had a big storm recently and were getting them cleaned up as the back nine bunkers were much better.
It was windy the day we played and the course was playing tough and quite long when in to it. I've played it on more calm days and the course was not nearly as difficult, but still a good test of golf. Links style with some more traditional holes too, so good diversity. Room off the tee but not so much it doesn't matter and errant drives will pay the price. Nice clubhouse and good practice facilities. Would definitely play again and at that price, would dare say it is the best value in the State. Will play again next time in the area, but would drive a good hour just to play at that price!

Played On 08/08/2019An Excellent Course at a Good Price!
This is an excellent course! Very well maintained and an outstanding, challenging layout but very fair and playable. We vacation in the area every year and this course has been added to the "must play" list. We played Boulder and Granite and both were very nice. See you next year, we will be back! Staff is very friendly. Greens run true and fast - play more break than you think. Course was in excellent condition!

Played On 08/06/2019An excellent track at a very good price!
A very unique course in that 11 of the 18 holes are Links style and a stretch of 7 holes on the back a more traditional style. Very well kept and challenging course but also playable. Greens are fast and true and the course was in great shape. Very friendly staff! Definitely on the list when I'm back in the area! 18 is a great finishing hole

Played On 08/05/2019Definitely worth the visit
An excellent course and in great shape. Mostly Links style (except for 18, which was a little different) and very nice layout. Their weekday morning special is an excellent value for the course you are getting. A very nice, challenging round but very playable too!
Red Hawk Run Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2019A decent course
The day I played it, it was nice but they had a lot of rain that week and the course was very wet. That's not their fault so I won't comment on the conditions, which were still decent, given the amount of rain. It is a nice course but I was a bit disappointed after reading some of the reviews of the course, thinking I would get more. It's nice, but based on the layout, it's nothing special either. I would recommend it to locals but I wouldn't travel more than an hour to play. The Staff was very nice.
Hidden Cove Golf Course at Grayson Lake State Park
Played On 05/03/2019A beautiful course in a natural setting
Fantastic course in a great location/setting. Truly picturesque holes with nice elevation changes. Challenging but fair! The course was in excellent condition except for the bunkers, which are being repaired currently and will be top notch when done. Really enjoyed the beauty and layout of this course and recommend highly. No beer at the 19th hole as it is in a dry county but have a pop and enjoy the setting!
Eagle Ridge Golf Course At Yatesville Lake State Park
Played On 05/02/2019Best Mountain Course I have ever played
Although in the Kentucky foothills, this course has a mountain style layout. An amazing course and on every tee off was marveled by the beauty of the hole. You cannot walk this course, distance between some tees considerable and elevation changes are dramatic. It is a shot placement course but very fair and not "mickey mouse" like some hill/mountain courses can be. A truly legit test and great layout. Well worth it! The bunkers do need repair but I have heard Kentucky State parks is spending $12,000 per bunker to upgrade.
Lynx National Golf Course, The
Played On 08/08/2018Nice track and Great Price. Pro is a Great Guy!
Nice track at a good price. Challenging but very playable. It is true lynx style in that there are very little trees and plenty of fescue, however, there is room for your driver with inviting fairways. The Pro there is one of the nicest guys I've met! Great guy. Definitely would play again.

Played On 03/18/2015A Nice Surprise
I wasn't sure what to expect with this course. The reviews on Golf Now were good but the course website was junk and did the course no justice at all. I was very presently surprised. This is a really nice course with a great track. It gives you mountain golf without the gimmicky holes. There is lots of trouble to get into, yet the course is extremely fair. Greens were good, especially for this early in the season and ran true. I definitely recommend this course. Note to course manager - you have a course in a very high tourist area and as such, your website is very important. Design a website that will do your course justice because it really is a hidden jewel!
Play it, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Island Pointe Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2015A Must Play when in the area
This course was great! Very challenging, great layout and in excellent condition. It combines holes that run along the river in the valley and holes that run through the highlands, while still remaining true golf. The greens are lightning and very tough, so plan on your short game being challenged. Although fast, the greens are receptive. Booked on Golf Now (hot deal) and got a great price, especially for the course. This has to be one of the best courses in the area. Play it, you won't be disappointed!
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 03/16/2015Nice course, 2 different 9's made for an Experience
It is a nice course and I would play it again for sure. We went early spring so the greens were nothing special but that is to be expected this time of year. One 9 is in the valley, the other in the mountain so it is really like playing 2 different courses which made it quite the enjoyable experience. Booked through Golfnow and the price was great but the clubhouse charged me a $6 environmental fee and when asked what it was for, even the guy in the clubhouse didn't know. I have never been charged an extra fee when booking through Golfnow. I felt it very odd but certainly wasn't going to let 6 bucks ruin my day. I would play this course again when in the area.
