Very Nice Golf Course in Great Location on Amelia Island

I had an early tee time and was paired with two other golfers. We played in less than 3 hours and had no one behind us. The course is in very good shape with the green side bunkers being only area that could really use some improvement. Fairways were in nice shape, greens were very nice and putted a solid speed (I like faster greens but these were not over the top fast), and tee boxes were well maintained.

Solid variety of long and shorter par 4's, good par threes, and interesting par 5's. Some spots you can loose a ball if you hit into the trees that line some of the fairways. No houses on the course - airport beside a couple of holes but in now way distracts from the golf.

I would recommend this course - but I did score the best I've done in about 2 hears - 3 over par - so bit biased given how well I played.

Solid Course for Most Golfers

I played this course and was paired with a 20 handicap - I'm a 10 - and he decided to play the blue tees with me. We both had solid rounds and a lot of fun. We were first off so pace of play was great. They let one group out on the front 9 and as we made the turn (started on 10) they let us through. Greens were very good and a reasonable speed. Fairways in good shape but a bit wet - it is August in Hilton Head so get the need for watering. We simply cleaned the ball if it got mud on a fairway shot. Bunkers in good shape as were the tee boxes.

I'd play here again.

Really Improved Course

I hadn't played Rocky River in 5 years or so and was amazed at the great shape it was in. Greens are great, teeboxes and fairways were really good, and pace of play was good. This is a challenging course - we played Green Tees (like Blues at most courses) and if I had stepped to the tips it would have been a lot of golf course. Good variety of holes that move both directions, require solid approach shots, but you get rewarded when you hit a good shot. Solid par 3's, good par 5's, and a nice mix of long and shorter par 4's. Highly recommend this course.

Price was $65 on a Saturday morning at 8AM which I thought was very reasonable for 18 w/ cart. The course is walkable and I believe it is allowed for members and non-members.

If you are in Charlotte area and are looking for a good public course I would highly suggest Rocky River.
