Tiger Point Golf Club

This course was worth every penny of the green fee. The course layout was well thought out, using a mixture of water, sand, and elevated greens. I can't say enough about the speed and consistency of the greens.
One tip a club member told me was that the course is actually easier if you play from the blue tees instead of the white because it opens up your options off the tee. Instead of starting 30-50 yards closer, the landing area is now wider and some of the reachable hazards are now out of range.
Not that the golf course has anything to do with this, the wind speed and direction can change these holes dramatically. This could add or subtract 20 yards to shot. Stay focused on the wind conditions.
A great value for a challenging but fair golf course. The only thing negative I could say would be the pace of play;. but don't let this deter you from experiencing this gem.

Very limited parking - auxiliary parking lot available but about 500 yards away. Not very intuitive for 1st time visitors.
Course offers several hidden shots...another mystery for newbies. No hole layouts on the score card or around the tee boxes.
The greens were ridiculously slow. After a few holes, our group agrreed to a two putt maximum, once on the green.
Course was not maintained well.
Hello dfischer59, We are very sorry you did not enjoy your visit to our club. Thank you for your constructive criticism and your concerns will be addressed. Our greens are in the final stages of transitioning from winter grass to summer grass and we are in the process of lowering the cut. The enormous amount of rain we have had has set us back with some of our maintenance practices which we plan on getting back on track very soon. We hope you might try us again in the future.

This is a nice little course that gives hackers half a chance to score well (better than their average). Don't expect picturesque or championship quality but it does have medium length holes with several water and sand hazards. Worth the green fee but don't expect any thing more.
Abita Springs Golf & Country Club

This was the first time I have played at Abita in about 2 years. I started about 12:30 and there was no one in front of me so I was able to finish in 3 hours. Of course it was very hot and humid at that time of the day but was able to get a deep discount on the green fee which made for an enjoyable day. The greens were slow but very smooth and consistent. There were only two greens that had some issues but the pin placements were in locations that made the issues a non issue. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. It was dry, no dead spots in the fairways, cut well; overall it was in very good condition compared to years past.

I don't have any complaints about the course. The area and course had just had 3 or 4 inches of rain over the two days prior to playing so the fairways were soggy in many areas but no standing water. With temperatures in the mid 90s it made for sauna like conditions. The greens were very quick and in excellent condition. It was well worth the $40 I paid to play.
Carter Plantation

I play this course about twice a year. Mileage from my home (40 miles) and green fee price ($69) make it prohibitive for me to play anymore than that. On this occasion, there was a deep discount on the green fee so I took advantage even though the temperatures were in the upper 40s with winds blowing around 15 mph from the NNW. They had just started aerating the fairways so this made it less than ideal. Other than that, the greens were in good shape, especially after such a harsh winter.
Most of the time, this is one of the best courses I have played anywhere. The normal green fee is really a bargain for the quality of the golf course. I think it is every bit as good as TPC Louisiana, if not better. You get free range balls with your green fee, the food is good, there is a snack bar and restrooms near the 10th tee box so you don't have to go all the way back to the club house before starting the back nine. The course drains quickly after a hard rain so you don't have to worry about a wet course.
If I could afford it on a weekly basis and I lived a little closer, this would be my course of choice.
Thank you for the 5* review. We are glad that you enjoyed the course. The greens are rolling great right now. Knowing the wind is extremely important with this course. You hit the nail on the head with that comment. It can play a factor out here with our beautiful views of the Santa Rosa Sound. See you again soon.
Swing away!
