Played On 06/19/2022Nice course, that needs some TLC
Having played Chipping Sodbury before I know its potential. However when we visited we found the greens to slow and full of divots. The grass on the tee boxes was longer than expected (had to change from Green to Red tees). The Layout is great. We had food afterwards and this was great and served in a friendly professional manner.
Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort - The Lake Course
Played On 03/11/2022Not a course for winter
Even though all our golfing friends said you don’t touche the Vale Resort in the winter, we gave it a go. They weren’t lying. Temporary tee mates on almost all the holes, and terrible quality ones at that. For a resort that knows it doesn’t cope with bad weather, you would have thought they would invest in either high-quality winter mats like St Pierre or improve the drainage on the tee boxes. We lost so mainly balls on fairways it was laughable. Greens were bumpy and soggy. I know it’s winter, but it was terrible. The staff were friendly enough, but I think they knew how bad it was before we started our round. Within two holes, we caught up with two older gentlemen. I couldn’t work out if they were playing golf or practising their digging skills for the allotment. They didn’t let us through and after nine holes, we just gave up—an abysmal experience. I would imagine it’s an entirely different kettle of fish in the summer, but the taste is so bitter from this experience I’m not sure I would return to try it.

After securing a hot deal for £10, We visited Cleeve Hill without lofty expectations. The pro greeted us warmly and gave us some tips and background to the course. This happened to be the 80th different course I have visited and instantly goes into my top 10.
Admittedly there are a lot of blind shots and the route isn't always the clearest, but wow what a course.
I played with a long hitting golfing partner, so we both experienced the course from different perspectives, we both agreed it was a real challenge.
After 3 days of heavy rain, the course was in great shape. Greens were surprisingly quick and it took us a few holes to adjust. The views are some of the best I have ever experienced, situated right on the edge of the Cotswolds and overlooking Cheltenham and it's racecourse. I plan to make the trip back up Cleeve Hill soon and we have added it to next years Society league's list of venues.
Burnham & Berrow Golf Club - Channel Course
Played On 07/22/2017Excellent but Challenging 9 hole course
It took me a while to adjust to the conditions while playing this challenging course, but once I started the 2nd loop I was able to really enjoy the course.
Paths between holes can be quite steep in places, not an issue for me, but I know people who would struggle.
Greens were very quick and in fantastic condition. Course is very exposed due to being a Links course set in the dunes and the wind will really influence your shots. Staff were friendly enough and Proshop had plenty of gear.
