Wexham Park Golf Centre - Blue Course
Played On 05/18/2020Will be a nice course once it is finished
I've played the Blue course a few times and liked it very much. What I didn't know before playing this time is that the course is in the middle of the major redevelopment. As a result the course now has a number of temporary holes/greens which made my distance tracking and shot tracking technology useless. It's been reduced to a par 65 and is very short.
I don't think I'll be returning until all the changes are complete.

Played On 11/12/2018Short and easy
This is the shortest 9 hole course I've ever played. First 9 only took me 55 minutes. It was also my best ever 9 hole score. When I went to start my 2nd 9 (as the tee was empty), I was asked by a staff member when my tee time was, an hour ago I replied. In that case I was told I was supposed to wait 40 minutes. He let me play anyway and I cleared the hole in about 5 minutes and was out of the way of following group. The course layout is very easy, 4 par 3's and the longest par 4 was barely 300 yards. So this isn't the course if you want a challenge.
Blacknest Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/17/2018Nice course
Although the weather forecast had predicted mainly dry conditions, it in fact rained for almost all of the round. Because of of the weather the course was completely empty, I saw no one else until I was playing the 18th and noticed someone on the 1st green. This is a really nice course, attractive layout and and fairly flat. The large amount of water hazards make some of the holes tricky.. Due to the low numbers at the club that day, the kitchen had been closed early but the guy behind the bar rustled me up an excellent sausage roll (it was huge, more of a sausage log!). The guy in the pro shop saw me coming off the course and we had a good chat.
I will return on a nice sunny day soon.

Played On 07/31/2018Gem of a course
It was a glorious day and was warmly greeted be the club staff. Was informed that there was a temporary green on the 1st due to an earlier flood. A couple had just teed off as I arrived at the 1st but was asked to play through as they were searching for a ball. I played the front 9 without seeing anyone in front. The layout of the course is very good, ups and downs but not too hilly. Lots of par 4's but very varied. The back 9 slowed down a touch but I still completed the round in 3 hours.
Loved the course, will return.
Moors Valley Golf Course
Played On 06/27/2018Good course but needs some rain
First time here. It's located within the Moors Valley Country Park which charges for parking, however when you check in with the Golf Shop, make sure they have your vehicle registration and then you will be able to leave without charge. I arrived early and so went to the bar for some breakfast, the "all day breakfast" was a reasonable £6.50 including a hot drink. I was able to tee off 10 minutes early. The course is clearly in need of some rain, most of the fairways were brown but the greens were in decent shape. The flow of the holes is good and quite varied, generally pretty flat. I will return later in the year when the fairways have hopefully recovered.
Drayton Park Golf Club - Drayton Park Course
Played On 03/21/2018Course in very good condition
The course had been closed for a few days due to the recent snow and this was the first day it had been open. I was anticipating less than perfect course conditions but was surprised to find the course in near perfect condition, fairways and green were not at all wet. The course played well, shame I didn't.
Alexander Park Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2017Nice course.
I was looking for a reasonably priced Sunday afternoon round near Malvern and this course popped up. Easy to find and it has a nice wide driveway and adequate parking. The golf pro was very friendly and had be out on the course in no time.
Having only been open 2 years or so, this course is in no way mature; most of the trees have clearly been recently planted. The front nine is fairly easy, I managed to par both the par 5's which is a rare thing for me!
Things change on the 10th where a blind drive over ridge to a fairway reveals a virtual island green (it isn't truly and island but has water on many sides. Faced with a 160 yard shot I went for it and instantly regretted it. Should have laid up and pitched on. The back 9 has plenty of water so accurate drives are a must. There isn't a single bunker on the course, which made the local rule on the scorecard about stones in bunkers a little odd. Perhaps they will add some in the future?
Really enjoyed my round and will be returning to this little gem in the future. It will be interesting to see how it matures in a few years.
Drayton Park Golf Club - Drayton Park Course
Played On 03/02/2017A hidden gem
I was a little worried when the golf pro said that hedgehog wheels were mandatory, luckily I had a set with me. However I needn't have worried, the course was in superb condition. No mud anywhere and the fairways were totally dry. This is a great course with some interesting holes. The 9th is a case in point, the tee box faces a hedge with a farmers field on the other side, you have to clear the corner of the field to reach the fairway. Finding some of the tees is a little tricky, I managed to play back down the 6th after the 8th, I thought it looked familiar! It was very quiet, no one ahead or behind me, even though I had a mid morning tee. Speaking with one of the members, it seems that Tuesdays and Thursdays are very quiet. Will be returning soon.

Played On 02/01/2017Avoid if there has been any rain, drainage seems non-existent
OK there had been some overnight rain, but not a huge amount, and the previous few weeks had been very dry. So I was surprised to find that most fairways were completely waterlogged. At point point when taking a shot in the middle of the 11th, I looked down and my shoes were almost completely submerged.
To make it worse I was stuck behind a slow group of 4. I gave up after 13 holes.
Temple Golf Club
Played On 11/16/2016Could be a nice course but fairway condition was poor.
I had great hopes for this course and the first hole was fine, long downhill. After this the condition of the course got worse, the fairways were extremely rough, sometimes it was hard to work out where the fairway ended and the semi rough started. Lots of loose grass made it a complete mess, in many spots it was better to be off the fairway as the grass was better. There were two temporary greens, the one on the 15th was OK and it was located on apron of normal green, however the one on the 16th was a complete disgrace. It was located in the fairway proper and no attempt had been made to make it anything like a suitable green. Putting was a complete joke here.
Sorry to say I would not return here.
