The black course had some tough holes

There were a few holes with some tough tee shots with dogleg lefts, trees blocking the left or right sides, stuff like that. Some holes had decent elevation changes, and I recall at least one blind shot into a green.

Some of the tee boxes were in terrible shape. They need to move the tee markers around, because there are a few holes where it looks like people continually hack away at the same spots.

The greens were in good shape, but moist after all of the rain. Slow, but with a true roll.

Overall, I like the Wheel since it has two courses to choose from.

Golfer hit in the head from driving range ball

I am only giving 1 star because of the blatant danger of the holes surrounding the driving range. I witnessed a golfer get hit in the head by a ball that was on-the-fly from the driving range. He was down on the ground for five minutes.

We called the driving range and told them that they should kick the person off the range that was continuously hitting balls onto 9 tee and 10 green.

Lo and behold, when my group was on 9 tee another ball landed on-the-fly on our tee box.

When I spoke with the employees at the driving range afterwards, they said there were people that were laughing about hitting it over the net. But, they did not throw them out for some reason. Perhaps they do not feel empowered to do so by management. I'm not sure.

One thing is for certain. Sterling Farms needs to enforce their driving range rules more, and make it explicitly clear that the liability for injuring or killing someone on the golf course is entirely the fault of the person hitting the ball.

There are a ton of driving range balls around the 6th and 8th green, the 9th tee, and the 7th fairway. Clearly, this is an ongoing issue, and one day there will be a tremendous lawsuit when someone is killed.

The man today was fortunately hit on the side of his skull, but away from his temple. It was a matter of inches that saved him from death.

Sterling Farms, the course is beautiful, but it is not worth someone's life. Empower your employees to warn golfers on the range that are blasting it over the net, and if they choose to continue to do so then kick them off the property. There are people on the other side of that net, and there is no warning when a ball flies in from the sky.
