Country Club Of Johnston County
Played On 02/29/2016terrible course
This is one of the worst courses I have ever played. The condition of the course was atrocious, it was essentially a mud field, with the tee boxes being sand, the greens themselves were not the worst but as an overall facility I would never play here again nor recommend. Unless this course makes a complete 180 during the spring and summer months I have no idea how people rate this a good course. That of course depends on if the people reviewing know what a good course looks like.
Little River Golf & Resort
Played On 09/23/2015Feeding off the Pinehurst effect
As i pulled into the facility i was deeply depressed that I drove all the way down from Raleigh, I could already tell that this would be a substandard round. It was my first time to the pinehurst area and I expect great things. This place reminded me of a course that was once great and is now just holding on. I did like the layout of the course but the conditions I felt were subpar. If i would have paid anymore than the $19 I would have been suicidal. The whole property felt dead to me. The only savior was I took a drive to down to PH no2. As soon as I pulled into that place I felt invigorated, it felt special, there was an energy around the entire clubhouse, practice area and course. I would not recommend anyone to drive from RDU to play little river but if I lived within 15min it might be a course I frequent more often but not worth the drive BUT pinehurst IS!!
The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club
Played On 09/05/2015good course
This is a very respectable course, good conditions and good layout. the only thing is that the new greens need some growing, they were a little bumpy but with time they will be good. overall great course
Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2015second time at lochmere
this is a pretty good course for the money, got a hot deal and was completely worth the $16. Overall the course is in pretty good shape, still some winter kill but overall nice conditions. We got stuck behind a women's league so that definitely slowed up our back nine. I would recommend playing this course if you are paying a discounted rate but I dont think the rack rate is worth it.
The Neuse Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2015Good Track
I was a little disheartened that the front 9 was being aerated and was closed (wish I knew that before coming out) but I played the back 9 twice and it was enjoyable. The course is in pretty good condition, the greens were slightly inconsistent but decent. Overall I would return if there wasn't a good deal for a course closer to me.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2015Sad I drove all the way out there
This course just didnt have what it takes to get a good review from me. The course conditions were fairly poor with one hole being completely closed due to winter kill. The entire course is somewhat gimmicky with a few odd holes. They did however have a decent range. I would not recommend the time to drive here and pay to play.
UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 08/18/2015Kind of Disappointed
I had high hopes coming to UNC but it was nothing special. I think Duke and NC state have superior golf courses and facilities. The course here was fairly easy given its a University course. The overall conditions were pretty good, some winter kill here and there, being more prominent on the greens. The whole experience was just lackluster given that this course is rated very highly in the state. The practice facilities were in my opinion subpar given its "UNC". If you can find a good deal on golfnow I would recommend but I would never pay rack rates for this course, I would however pay rack for Duke and NC state.

River Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2015This is the best course I've played since moving to NC
This golf course is special. Now, I am one to hold everything to high standards especially golf courses. This one completely exceeded expectations. You truly feel like you are playing on a super exclusive country club. The conditions are absolutely incredible, the greens are some of the best I've ever played (they were rolling probably a 12-13). There was no one on the course when I played and was able to fly through 18. The overall conditions of the course match some of the best in the state. I have to say this is my favorite course right there with lonnie poole. I would HIGHLY recommend this course to anyone. I just wish it was closer to my house. The only small qualm I have was that they had gas carts, not a big deal but I just think the course deserves nice electric carts.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University
Played On 08/13/2015Very solid course
This is probably my second favorite course since I've moved here to NC. This course is challenging from the tips but allows for scoring on some holes. The overall facility is awesome, great practice area, it is WAY better than UNC and right there with DUKE. The overall conditions were very good, still some winter kill, which was somewhat disappointing given a University course and their budget but still nice. The golf carts with the Ipad GPS was nice but it sucks because they have trackers on them and shut off when driving in certain areas, that was the only bad thing. For some reason it was cart path only when I played even though the fairways were dry but again its a University course so they can be quirky. Overall I would highly recommend given some of the prices you can get on GNOW. I will return.
First, thanks for checking us out fir the first time and we are glad that you found it "excellent". Second, thanks for taking the time to share your experience here on GolfAdvisor - we appreciate it!
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 08/12/2015first time
Chapel Ridge was a pretty nice course. I tend to hold courses to high standards and this one was pretty close to meeting them. The conditions were relatively good, some dead spots in the fairway and greens but I think that is the normal around here during the summer, I am used to golf in the north where the summer months courses are pure green. Overall I think this course is good value, a little out of the way though is the only unfortunate
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 08/10/2015Not worth the drive
Again I had high hopes for this course but it just didnt deliver. The course is in pretty rough shape, the greens are just dead with winter kill all over the fairways. The course does have a nice layout but being that it is about 45min from my house I most likely will not be returning.
Sorry you felt this bad about your round at CCJC. We've reached out to you via email about your review. As most of you from the area know, we've had a ton of rain and even ice, snow during February. The course is dry now and carts are allowed back on the fairways. Course is in great shape heading into Spring! Come see us!
