Lemoore Golf Course
Played On 08/09/2015Update II
Course has really improved over the last few months. For a muni course it is a four star rating. Fairways have improved a ton and there aren't as many bad patches around the edges of the green. Whenever I'm passing through mid-week I never mind playing here as it's a good solid course to work on skills. Price is reasonable and pace of play mid morning during the week is great.
Coyote Creek Golf Club - The Valley Course
Played On 07/20/2015Nice but overpriced
The course itself is in good condition. Some of the greens had a lot of pitch marks that hadn't been fixed but other than that it was in good shape.
Other than some forced carries to make the course fun, it is fairly open . Interactive GPS on carts is nice. We played late afternoon on a weekday and were experimenting with some new electronics so pace of play wasn't an issue.
Attitude of pro shop attendant was very poor and the price for a 4pm weekday twilight 9 hole round was too much in my opinion.
Del Monte™ Golf Course
Played On 06/30/2015Nice solid track for all abilities
Course is in good condition all around. Fairways are wide for novice hitters and greens are fast and undulating to challenge the advanced golfer. The sand in the bunkers was nice and soft making them predictable to get out of.
Staff was friendly all around. The cart girl even gave us the courtesy of letting us know when it was her last round so we good stock up on snacks. Only downside was that three of the par 3's were over 180 yds with one being 210 yds from the white tee's.
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
Played On 06/14/2015Nice overall course.
Course is in very nice condition from tee to green. Fairways were surprisingly very lush, green and smooth throughout. Greens are on the small side but are in nice shape and roll true. Staff was very professional and friendly.
Track has some fun and challenging elevation changes. I Didn't have a particularly good round but I'll be back for sure!
West at Rancho Canada Golf Club
Played On 05/31/2015Good Solid Track
Nice Track to test all your skills. Played the west course which has holes that play long and others with tight fairways. Greens, mfairways anf tees boxes are all in good shape for the most part. Only one green was in poor shape.
Greens are flat so it's good confidence builder for higher handicappers
Pheasant Run Golf Course
Played On 05/10/2015Duck duck Goose
Staff was absolutely great. Extremely friendly and helpful. My playing partner locked his keys in his truck so he was 45 mins late. They accommodated a new tee time for us without any hesitation.
Course is in great shape from tee to green. EXCEPT the sand traps which range from terrible to atroshish. That is my only complaint with the course. Greens rolled true and the course has plenty of water hazards stocked with ducks and geese.
There's no grass between fairways so you have to hit off dirt if you miss the fairway. This saves precious water which I'm OK with. Plus they seem to maintain the dirt and the times I had to hit from it, I didn't really have a problem.
Diablo Grande Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/24/2015Nice Course in Great Shape
This was my first time at the course and the staff at the pro shop was super friendly. He happily took the time to give me the full run down of the layout of the facility. Course is great shape from tee to green. Greens were predictable both on speed and in reading the break.
Paso Robles Golf Club
Played On 03/30/2015Top notch facility all around
This is my third time playing here and all experiences have been good. The course is in fantastic shape with no area being spared attention. Greens, fairways and even the rough are all in good shape, the tee boxes are better than some greens I've been on lately . Course has a great mixture of everything you want. There are numerous water hazards but they are well placed so that they are fairly easy to navigate with all water hazards having a dry route to go around if you so choose.
Fairways are a mix of wide open on the back 9 to some rather narrow ones on the front 9. Course also has some elevation changes on a number of holes
The staff is SUPER friendly. I can't say enough about how nice everyone is there. Restaurant is also very classy where you can get a real meal and not just a hot dog. The only negative I can think of was it took way too long in the morning to get my breakfast burrito. However, the lunch service was quick.
Hats off the staff at PR Golf Club!
The Ranch Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2015Top notch course
The Ranch is a very beautiful and challenging course. Almost every hole has elevation changes and several have forced carries. Greens, tee boxes and fairways are all in top condition. Note: currently holes 6-10 are closed due to recent storm damage. They let you play 1-5 twice to make up 18. No problem if you play late afternoon mid week like I did but this will no doubt back things up on a weekend so be prepared.
Views are excellent and There were some turkeys on a few of the holes. The fairways are narrow with a number of them having steep cliffs so keeping it in play is a must!
I had to get on the road right after my round but the restaurant looked fabulous so I'll be back to both play the course and dine at the restaurant.
Madera Municipal Golf Course
Played On 03/06/2015Keep it in the fairways!
Overall the course was decent. As mentioned in other reviews once you're off the fairways you're in dirt on this course. With the water shortage in the area I can understand and respect that. However I had a terrible round and found myself in the dirt a lot. It started to get old after awhile but bottom line is its on me for not staying on the fairway.
Pace of play was slower than expected for a a mid week round. The restaurant kitchen was closed and only had hot dogs :(
Overall it was a worthy experience and I'm sure I'll be back to play the course again.
Rooster Run Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2015Nice course but slow
Course was in excellent shape unfortunately it was also extremely crowded. We were constantly backed up 2-3 deep on the tee's. At least 4 players ahead of us quit after the turn because it was so slow. On a weekend I probably would have been more tolerant but mid day midweek this was unacceptable in my book.
Hard to say if we'll go back or not. The course was fun but it took us over 5 hrs to play 18.
The Links At Bodega Harbour
Played On 02/24/2015Great views
I'm going to start with the positive. The course was in great shape from first tee to 18th green. It has some very good challenges with excellent views throughout. A bit of a warning. The wind comes up in the afternoon and makes some of the holes very challenging.
Now the other side of the coin. First off the staff. The younger gentleman in the pro shop was great. No complaints there at all. He was nice, professional, customer service oriented and accommodating. unfortuneately he wasn't the only person there. The older guy was.... Well you get the point. He was so bad we actually put our clubs back in the car and started to leave.
As for the food. There is a snack shop attached to the pro shop and a restaurant across the parking lot that overlooks the ocean and 18th green. Unfortunately both closed early on the wednesday we played so we didn't get any food at the turn (no drink carts on the course) nor enjoy an after round drink and meal.
It's a true links course in great shape with spectacular views of the pacific. All at a reasonable price. For that I give it a 3.5 star rating. Just don't expect 4-5 star service like at other clubs.
Oh and another bonus. Look for the local "pet" bobcat on the 11th or 12th Tee. It came out after we rolled up and laced in the grass to watch us tee off. Sooo cool!
Black Horse at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 02/16/2015Bring your A game!
Course condition is superb. Fairways are manicured to perfection. Views are excellent and the entire staff is very friendly. The only thing I'd like to see is a bigger locker room with a shower and changing area. Being local this is an area where I frequently do my bike rides. It would be nice to be able to shower there on site before heading out for a round like I do at other nearby courses instead of having to go back home.
This course always brings me back to reality with my game as it is very challenging. I've found that putting conservatively and leaving it short (plan for 2 putt) saves a lot of strokes. You can easily end up 4 putting on these greens if you're not careful.
Lemoore Golf Course
Played On 02/13/2015Course Needs Work
I've played this course a few times now and conditions seem to be getting worse. The front nine aren't bad, however the back nine are in bad shape. The greens are ok (manageable) but the fairways and tee boxes are in need of some serious attention.
I understand the course is under new management now so hopefully conditions start to improve. I still enjoy going to the range as its natural grass and in decent shape.
Balboa at Sepulveda Golf Complex
Played On 02/12/2015Nothing wrong w/ this Course
I played mid-day on a weekday. I was a single and was paired up with another single who had played the course several times so it was nice to have some local knowledge. Pace was nice. We had a foursome in front of us but they kept things moving right along nicely. Greens were in great shape, no complaints at all there. Fairways were average but nothing to get upset about. Especially at this price. If I'm at Pebble, Kapalua, or Indian Wells then I expect immaculate fairways but at $30-$35..... Again no complaints. As far as the course layout. Nothing major one way or the other. It's completely flat with no real challenges so it's a good course for bigginners and walkers. Lastly, I read about the lack of a food cart on a review. Not true. There was a fully stocked food cart that came around a few times during my course of play which again was mid-day on a Thursday. My only complaint was that the pro-shop was closed. Luckily I didn't NEED anything. But it's always nice to look
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 01/22/2015Standard course
This is the golf course I measure all others against. LS is a good standard nice golf course with predictable greens that are right in between challenging yet manageable for beginners. Fairways are in very good shape overall. Club has a shower which is convenient so I can change after a bike ride ride before playing a round
Only downside is the restaurant closes early afternoon. So no late afternoon snacks (or drinks) after a mid day round
DeBell Golf Club
Played On 12/10/2014My new go to course in LA
I travel to LA on business from northern Calif. every now and then. I decided to take my clubs this trip and Play De Bell. It's a fun course with lots of elevation changes both on the course and between holes.
Staff friendliness was average but seems to be the norm for golf courses/pro shops. I have found that bike shop staff members are 5x friendlier than golf employees.
Lemoore Golf Course
Played On 12/05/2014Decent course
This was my second time playing here and I'll go back again. Overall length and difficulty of the course is moderate which is a plus for a beginner like me. Due to the California drought and extreme high summer temps in the valley some of the fairways are in poor shape, especially on the back 9. I don't see that as poor course maintenance just a difficult position for the grounds crew to be in as all residents in the area must now get water permits before installing lawns. With that they have managed their limited water use well and kept the greens, tee boxes and approach areas in good shape.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 11/27/2014Fun Course with challenging greens
Course yardage is shorter than average making it a good course to walk if you so choose. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Greens proved to be more challenging than anticipated. Carts have Gps in them which is a great touch for such a nominal green fee.
As novice golfers we enjoyed this course very much and will be going back later this week.
Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Monterey Pines Golf Club.
