i played ocn earlier this year and the conditions were incredible. but mid april it’s not very good. fungus all over the greens, chipping areas and tee boxes. what a bummer, and without any discount.

the ratings are poor because apparently the course has been closed for 7 months and stupid golfnow is still letting people book tee times. cost me another $20 to play the other course. god bless the pro shop and starter who accommodated me despite golfnow’s mistake.

another course in central florida that won’t spend money to maintain conditions. greens are laughably slow. weeds and dirt around greens. hole 6 has a temporary green. so disappointing. won’t be back in awhile.

i believe the course was about to be closed for maintenance. the greens were excellent and most fairways were good. but tee boxes and some spots were really bad. bunkers were inconsistent too. but usually the course is great so i know they’ll get it back.

i’ve played red tail many times. other than the time they overwatered the greens and lost them all, this is the worst i’ve ever seen the conditions. the only bright spot on the day was the staff. they knew how bad it was and went above and beyond to try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. for now i have to add red tail to the list of courses i will not be playing again.

it’s disappointing to say, but eagle dunes is officially out of my rotation. the course conditions have deteriorated to the point that it is not enjoyable. and the pace of play is abysmal. the price is good, but the negatives outweigh the positives and i don’t foresee it improving. it’s a shame because the layout is so fun and the greens are usually great. i will not be stepping foot on this property again in the foreseeable future.

i played here in february 2021 and they had lost their greens. my round in june 2022 was my first time back and the greens were perfect. some fairways, most of the rough and most areas around greens need some maintenance, but the course was great and being the first to go off in the morning was a real treat. will definitely be back soon.

this course is always in great shape and it’s the best i’ve seen in awhile

unfortunately eagle dunes appears to be letting its conditions steadily decline. my hope is it’s just a water issue, but i’m not convinced. this is a great layout and a fun course, but the conditions are making me think twice before coming back.

i love this layout, and i’m excited to see the greens have recovered and are rolling great. once they get the areas off the fairways and around the greens back, this course will be one of the best around.

never EVER step foot on this landfill masquerading as a golf course. fairways overtaken with fungus, weeds and patchy grass. fungus all over the greens. staff were rude. front 9 was closed although that wasn’t disclosed on golfnow. which meant the pace of play was a mess. what a complete disappointment.

the course layout is a lot of fun. cut into native swamp land there is lots of wild life to be seen including a ton of big alligators. holes require you to move the ball both ways but you still have options. a fun mix of target golf and bombs away.

but the staff is some of the most rude i’ve encountered in recent memory. to the point that despite checking in with the starter 10 minutes before my tee time, he had already sent my group off (i was a single paired with another single and a twosome) and i had to meet them in the fairway so i had to skip playing that hole. the cashier wasn’t any friendlier when checking in.

the greens were in great shape, but played a ton slower than they looked. a few bad spots here and there, but otherwise really good conditioning.

the course is fun enough and the deal good enough to go back. but they really need to train their staff on being kind to paying customers.

eagle dunes has often boasted to have the best greens in orlando for a public course. in my opinion that hasn’t always been the case, but right now i think they’re back to their old fantastic conditions. the rest of the course is also in very good shape. not perfect but for the price i don’t think any other public course in town can compete.

having played red tail many times over the years i was excited to get an early round in. the course has a fun but challenging layout, and is usually in very good shape.

the day didn’t start well when the course did not have a record of my tee time, despite having a confirmation number from golf now. to the course’s credit they still honored the time.

pace was good. they sent us out behind two members who played quickly. but we ran into several foursomes on hole 17. with a tee time of 7am, this could only mean that the course put out a member group in front of us on staggered holes. i didn’t appreciate that.

but the worst part of the round was the greens. they’re gone. a mix of mud, weeds and some patches of bumpy grass. perhaps i missed this issue in the course description while booking, but even at a somewhat better price than most courses this time of year it was still far overpriced due to the completely unplayable greens.

i would check back in a few months to see if they’ve been able to salvage the greens because the course can be a lot of fun. but right now i would advise to stay away.

i’ve played shingle creek a handful of times, but it’s never been in better shape than it is now. and for this time of year the price for a resident was below what i would have expected to pay for such pristine conditions. we went out early and despite being stuck behind a foursome for 6 holes, we were eventually waved through and played in under 3 hours. i can’t wait to go back!

having played eagle creek many times over the years, i was expecting good conditioning for the $75 florida resident rate. while i have seen worse conditions at other courses, this was some of the worst i’ve seen at eagle creek in awhile. the greens were in great shape, so i commend them for that. but tee boxes, fairways and areas around the greens need more care. after the round i hit balls on the driving range, and it was terrible. almost no grass, just sand. they need to do better because it’s a very fun course with great potential.

I owe a huge Thank You to the starter. My tee time was 7:48 as a single, just about 20 minutes after sunrise. Apparently I was paired with a group of 6, but I rolled up to the starter before they had checked in. He let me go off by myself, with no one in front of me. A 2-hour round on a weekend at a busy course like this is truly a treat. The conditioning was fantastic, close to the best I can ever remember seeing it. If only I wasn’t so bad at golf, it would have been a perfect day :)

i played shingle creek earlier in 2019, and was disappointed to see a lot of the back 9 under construction, and conditions were very poor despite such a great layout. however, in a few short months they completed the construction and have the course in fantastic condition. as a single i was paired with a foursome and we finished the front 9 in just under 2 hours, then as a twosome we finished the back 9 in 1 hour. for a sunday afternoon the pace of play will never be better!
