I was surprised by how well this course played and the condition that it was in, There was a little back-up on the front nine (which in this case was played after the back nine). Greens were faster than I anticipated.

Not a lot of travel from Madison to this locale but I doubt that I will make this journey again. Fairways were real rough. Greens were OK. There were occasions when it was difficult to determine where the pins were, mostly because this was my first time there. Although there were some challenging holes, particularly those that were surrounded by water, there appeared to be an actual theme for this course.

If nothing else, yesterday was a beautiful day to be golfing anywhere. This course has been somewhat maligned because of course conditions. Yesterday was very good, though. Because of the lack of much rain throughout the summer, the course was in better condition than usual. The greens had been aerated earlier in the morning and there was a fine layer of sand on them. I would recommend play here, regardless of the price.

There were some challenging holes, more so because of the amount of rain that Oconomowoc seemed to have. There was some standing water in the fairways and many of the sand traps were muddy and again with some standing water. Overall, this was a good experience and I would like to play the course again later this year.
