Thorney Park Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2023Very good in poor conditions
Some courses would have been closed and it was certainly boggy with lots of surface water. However the greens were in excellent conditions, as were 17 out of 18 tee boxes. The whole course is a decent challenge and the 18th is certainly a tricky one to navigate.
We all agreed this was probably the best course we could play in the conditions and would recommend it as a winter choice. But we will also come back in the Summer.

Played On 10/17/2021Gone downhill
Have played a number of times and rated it very highly, but its taken a shocking downhill slide. No staff on the course at all. Tee boxes very cut up and little signs of repair. Greens in poor condition (compared to putting green which is excellent). Signage falling out of the ground or missing from previously. Not surprisingly the course was very quiet for a sunday afternoon and its obvious why. For a private course it seems to have become more like a public course. You cant keep charging £35 a round for this course. Such a pity as 18 months ago i made an enquiry about membership (twice) but nobody called me back - and now i feel i have escaped a bullet.
A lovely course that has got much worse in the last 12 months.
Aldenham Golf Club - Village Course
Played On 09/12/2021A pleasure
Kept in really good condition, this course is a pleasure to play. It’s quite tight with lots of trees and you should expect to lose a couple of balls as you go around. However you will also find them in the trees and generally you will end up net neutral. Greens are in really good condition considering it’s been a tough summer. I would choose to play here above any other local nine hole course.

Maybe it was my mistake for booking on a Friday. But over 4 1/2 hours for around is seriously not good enough. Plus we then had other two balls trying to push through us saying that as members they were playing a match and therefore they had right of way. Seriously one of the guys took 3 to hit it past the ladies tee. It was embarrassing. We even had a buggy and still
Almost hit the 5 hour mark!!
Everything else was fine and it would’ve been a lovely round of golf on a well-kept course. But golf isn’t meant to be played at that pace and clearly they had booked in to many people in order to try and maximise revenue. We won’t be coming back
first time I felt like walking off a course in my life
Where do I start? Is the the fact that this is probably the course you are most likely to get killed on? Or that it was filthy with rubbish and looked like it was maintained by someone with no idea of how to do it. And as for the idea it mirrored major holes - what a joke!
it took over 2 hours to play 9 holes. Waiting on every hole. When leaving the queues were 4 deep on some holes. And some daft person on a greens mower thought it would be a good idea to cut the greens at 11am on a sunday morning. What about doing it during the week you fool;.
Balls would come flying past you without any warning. One nearly hit me, as players got more frustrated by the delays. And the design of the course means sometimes you are hitting the ball over other players on another tee. You also have to walk back down a fairway into oncoming balls to reach one tee box.
The greens were in good condition, if a little hard through lack of water. There are few sprinklers from what I could see. And all the greens were oversized compared to the fairways.
If sticking a false pond to one side of a fairway and saying it's the 16th at Augusta is deemed acceptable then so be it.
Needless to say I will never be returning. What a waste of a morning. .
Datchet Golf Club
Played On 09/06/2020tight course
9 holes played twice squeezed into a small space by pushing the tee boxes back down the previous fairways. So a long walk from green to tee each time. Some of the tee boxes were in impossible positions, like the 3rd, where you could only hit trees. And there was a lot of trees. It's a mature course that would suit an older person who hits straight and short. No value for giving the big dog a chance to bark. Greens quite small and even after recent rain they were too hard and hard to stop on. But sharing every fairway with someone else just isn't for me. Not for £20 quid each
Wexham Park Golf Centre - Blue Course
Played On 07/12/2020greens of concrete
It seems to be a common theme in the South East of England. Average courses with greens that are made of iron. You couldn't stop a deflated beach ball on these greens, so it is only good for bump and run shots. If it's the only place you can get in for the price then go ahead. You will have a nice time. But it's right on the average cusp

Played On 06/27/2020Short and fun
A lot of trees on this woodland course. All around you hear people hitting them. And the rough under the trees was very scrubland like and if you go in, dont bother looking for your ball. Nicely kept greens and tees. Fairways decent. My only concern would be that sharing greens between each 9 hole round means a lot of congestion could ensue. Would like to play again and see - probably better during the week than at a weekend
