Plumas Pines Golf Resort
Played On 08/20/2015Good conditions, great staff, some tight fairways, greens could be faster
Overall the conditions of the course are good, the fairways can be tight on some holes so leaving the driver in your bag for most of the round is a good idea even playing from the tips. The staff is very friendly and willing to accomodate you and appreciate your business. Only thing I could say is that they could cut the greens a little bit shorter to make them faster, however, they are probably keeping them slow and a little bit longer to accommodate most of "their" guests. overall I think this is the second best course within 45 miles or so.
Graeagle Meadows Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2015overrated and overpriced unless you get a deal online.
IMO this course is extremely overrated. I got a deal on golf now for about a third of the rack rate which at that price was barely worth it. The course is in OK shape off of the fairways the grass is totally dead obviously with the drought conditions they're having to pick where they water. Just be careful if you miss a fairway because you will be on rocks/hardpan. My main complaint with this course is the greens. They're way too long and way too bumpy. Went off first one morning and the greens were not rolled. Dew on the entire green:( For the overall rating I "expected" more.
There are 3-4 other courses within 30 minutes that are far superior to Graeagle Meadows, one less than 10 miles away. This course gets a lot of play obviously and they do a decent job given that. Pace of play very very slow unless you go off before 7:45am especially on Tuesdays.
The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 9/14/2013Tight tree lined fairways and fast greens:)
This was a great course! Started off with a sweet tree-lined number one hole, fast and firm greens that hold high trajectory approach shots nicely. The bunkers were good. Firm where they need to be and soft sand greenside (please remember to knock the sand off your spikes into the rough). The greens I can't say enough about, awesome! All excluding 18 which crows were tearing up, we told the starter and he said he was aware...
The carts come prepped with towels and complimentary bottles of water.
I was fortunate to get paired up with a 3-5 hdcp. whom had played the day before. Buy yourself a yardage book and spend some time on their solid putting green. Staying out of the rough here and having a good roll on the greens are key to having a low round here. All rounds here are great, I believe this is the best $$ value for miles!
