Davis Golf Course
Played On 02/23/2014Fun place to revive your game!
if you are a 'duffer' like me, playing an occassional round at a place like Davis Muni should be a requirement. flat, wide-open course allows you to play a more relaxed game, lower your scores and get some confidence back. i was so down on golf in the fall after getting beat up on courses like Poppy Ridge, Wente, Diablo Grande, Roddy Ranch, that I was thinking of hanging up the clubs. after yesterday, i can't wait to play again. great value, decent pace of play. fairways are brown due to combo of lack of rain and bermuda grass, but everything is very well maintained especially greens and tee-boxes. very friendly staff. if it weren't a 90-minute drive, i'd be up here more often. thanks Davis Muni for helping revive my enjoyment of the game!
Springtown Golf Course
Played On 3/21/2013Okay for a cheap, fast nine holes
Old Springtown has seen better days. Very dry conditions; hard to tell where the fairway ends, and the dry rough area starts. it can be a bit frustrating to hit a good drive, slightly off the center of the fairway and then have a very hard time finding it in the brown 'grass'. positives are that the greens are in good shape, and the people working the pro shop are good guys. if you get a rate of $9-$11, its not a bad way to spend 90 minutes (if you fork out $10 for a cart); at $17 for nine-holes, i'd rather drive to Antioch/Brentwood and play a discounted rate at a good course for $25-$35 during the week. shame they can't take better care of it.
