Brilliant course for midweek round

We had a great game around this interesting course. Everything was in top condition aside from the bunkers being a little mismatch on their fill of sand! But it didn't affect our enjoyment of the round.

The course is a lovely test for both intermediate and more advanced golfers, as it has a couple of nice risk reward shots and tight approaches. Great views from some holes too, and picturesque woodland setting.

Highly recommended!

Excellently kept parkland course

We played around 9am, just before a competition the same day. The course was in brilliant condition, with the greens on the back nine rolling even better than the front.

The course is not too long nor is it too tricky. There are trees lining the fairways but for someone who hits it 250+ off the tee, there is little to punish you going onto another adjacent fairway. If your short game is good around here, you can go low!

It's a really fun course to play and the staff we great with us too. Will definitely play again.

Unusual course hampered by wet conditions and prior communication

The course is interesting, quite up and down in places and I can see the appeal of the design. The shorter holes are very nice to play. A couple of the tee shots require a course planner to know where you're going and how much fairway you'll have, though.

The downside was although the weather had been recently dry, the course was still very wet in places. They had instigated a use of mats anywhere on the course, but this was not communicated to us before we arrived. The mats were not good to hit off and to be honest, the fairways were dry enough. We were also meant to use them in the rough and anywhere you were on the course, which was a problem as the pro only had one mat to lend us (we could buy one if we'd have wanted...) We spent much of the round being asked by members if we knew of the mat rule, and to make sure we used them. This was a little bit over the top, and didn't lend itself to a relaxing round.

We were also expected to carry a large rake around with us to rake the bunkers. Never experienced this before. Bizarre!

A very 'members' club. Friendly pro and staff, but just felt a little on edge playing there due to the slight over protectiveness of the course. Members obviously care a lot about their track, though.
