Oak Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/19/2015great value, great staff
Super nice staff members made this a memorable outing. The course was in much better shape than I expected given the crazy weather we experienced this spring. The par 3's are more fun than most in the area, too.
fun, fast, inexpensive
I absolutely love this course. By far my favorite in a 50-75 mile radius. The holes have charm, the staff is great, we almost always finish in 3 hours or less, and the prices cannot be beaten. Yeah, the course isn't in pristine condition, but it's still very enjoyable. Advanced golfers might balk at the quality of the course, and that is understandable. It's not for everybody. It was actually in better shape both last summer and this spring than other area courses, though.
Diamond Caverns Resort & Golf Club
Played On 06/13/2014Fun, inexpensive course
I always enjoy playing at Diamond Caverns. The course has fun holes with interesting layouts and very few sand traps. It's not perfect, and I can see why some advanced golfers with certain expectations might dismiss this place. But I'm a bad golfer, and this course allows me to play bad golf really fast and for a decent price.
The Pearl Club
Played On 05/28/2014Great potential, horrible fairways
This course seems like it is a year or two away from being spectacular, but the current conditions make it unplayable. The fairways were the worst I have ever seen, and I play mainly at (what I previously thought were) the worst courses in the state. The people were nice, the facilities were top notch; but like I said, you just can't play golf there when you're hitting straight drives but then hitting second shots out of dirt every hole. Drives in the fairway would roll just a few yards, high short iron shots would sink halfway into the mysteriously swampy ground upon impact (it hadn't rained in days) if you missed the green. Good tee boxes, good enough greens, lots of nice views, and they kept cold water out in many locations. Very frustrating day, though, if you came to play golf.
