Mind the ditches, pick the right club

1st time here and received a warm welcome.
Struggled to navigate each hole, having not played the course before, but would know better 2nd time around.
Very disappointed to have 2 single players playing ahead and having to wait on every tee for the front 9!
A single player having a front 9 course lesson in front, kept stopping for a chat and video review!
The single player in front of him, was just painfully slow and he was playing off whites!
Our 2 ball front 9 took just over 2 hours!
With lesson in front stopping after 9, our 2nd 9 was a bit quicker, but we did wait on a few tees for the other single player.
All in a all a good course, using the space well.
With limited trees, the occasional wayward shot had a chance of recovery.
Greens were all of equal pace, if a bit slow.
Would play again, but in no rush to do so.

Good course, but needs a bit if TLC compared to a few years ago

Always nice to play here and a good challenge.
There are some fairways and greens that need a bit of TLC however.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Would lobe to play this again, when the fairways have a more even cibering of grass and the greens are back to their quick pave with even civering of grass and no bald bumpy patches.
Would question the £60 fee i have just seen at the moment.
Paid £50 today and would say that was a bit steep for the current condition.
Hopefully, now we are back to fourballs, some greenkeepers will be allowed to get back to work and restore it to former days.

Good design, greens decent, fairways on the way back

After the serious Leatherjacket Beetle issues, the course is now starting to get back to normal.
Fairways are still noticeably bare in places, but you can see the work that has been done.
Recent dry conditions and lockdown couldn't have aided the recovery.
Greens were good, bar 2 of them, where what looked like bird damage had occured.
The course remains challenging and with hard ground it was tough to hold fairways and greens, even with decent shots. The rough was distinctly cut at 2 levels and balls hard to find unless you were almost on top of them.
Nevertheless, it was noted that via Golf Now, 2 weeks ago the Green fee was £50 and i wouldnt have paid that. However, with the fee dropping to £35 i thought it was worth a go.
Course was quiet and significantly more were playing the Old Course.
I would hope by the end of the Summer, the course would be hopefully nearing a significantly better condition and near nornal, allowing golf to be enjoyed by all.
Clubhouse was closed due to Virus conditions of play.

Always a good course to play

Always enjoy playing here. Not done so for a while, but pleased and surprised to see it in good nick, despite recent lockdown.
Pace of play here is normally the only issue, Holes 1-4 normally the slowest, but then play tends to speed up a little.
The course is popular, hence the pace of play. Views are great and everyone is friendly both on and of the course.
The Par 3 12th,which links the lower part of the course to the top cliff part, is a tough short walk up hill, but to then get to tee off from the 18th a short while later, with the view and all to eagerness to get the driver out and launch one, makes it all worth while.

Just Poor

Whilst appreciating golf courses have only just been reopened due to Coronavirus, took the opportunity of playing a new course for me.
Was greeted in Car Park by man in car, who advised that they sold nothing to golfers, no tees, no balls, no refreshments. We are just a golf course!?
As we had arrived with 30 mins to spare, quickly drove down into town and grabbed some drinks.
Found the layout poor amd a course that was literally thrown on the side of a hill.
Conditions not great, but will take into account recent lockdown.
In comparing cost of £18 for 18 holes and £12 for 9. I dont spose you will find much cheaper, but in relative terms, compared to other courses, u are paying to walk on around a hill and acknowledge the view.
Will i play here again? No, sorry
