Wigwam Resort - Blue Course
Played On 02/28/2024Good Course Conditions
Played Blue course in less than 4 hours. Pace of play was great and course is in good condition.
Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
Played On 02/01/2024Very Playable Course
Course conditions were what you would expect for a average groomed municipal course. Sand in bunkers was consistent. Fairways were in average condition, with some spotty areas. Greens were average speed. Finishing hole - 18 is a great par 4 with scenic view down fairway towards mountains in background. Should be the signature hole. Pace of play was great. No GPS on carts. Will play here again when prices go down.
Wigwam Resort - Blue Course
Played On 01/25/2024Nice round except for the fivesome that collected at the 10th hole.
Good course conditions despite the rain from the prior two days. On 10th hole, we caught up with a group of 5 who appeared to be local members, which slowed up pace significantly. The group said fivesomes were allowed. Called pro shop and the ranger was dispatched and broke up the group. Pace of play resumed to a reasonable pace. Would have rated five stars except for the arrogance of the members. Will go back again.

Played On 04/19/2022Overall good experience
I hesitate to give out 5 stars due to two issues. About half of the fairways were burnt out - thin grass on dirt and most of the bunkers (not all) needed a sand refill. Maybe this is due to late season .This was a departure from past experience when fairways were green/lush and bunker sand was consistent. Overall, a good experience, and a favorite course to play in the Phoenix area.
Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course
Played On 04/12/2022Interesting course
This was a links style course, not the usual desert course encountered in Phoenix area. It was a tight course, but the target landing zones were generous, and drives need to be "target golf" to take advantage. Several greens were tiered, some of which were not noticable from the fairway. Green books would be helpful for first time players. Starter offered no advice and seem annoyed to even be there. Otherwise staff was friendly. Greens were recently sanded but rolled true. Fairway bunkers were almost bare and greenside bunkers were sanded. Overall a fun course but not the usual desert style course. Pace of play was decent. Overall, a good golf experience.
Encanto Golf Course
Played On 03/31/2022Good value. Great condition
Good value. Greens in great condition. Bunker sand was evenly distributed and consistent. Fairways were good but not great...too dried out.
T-boxes are really close to greens. Course layout led to backups on back 9.
No GPS on carts.
Overall a good experience.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 02/15/2022OK
This is a Pete Dye design so expect two tiered greens and deep bunkers. Course needs more water as fairways were borderline burnt out. Greens were in good condition. Course manicuring was lacking since I last played in 2020 and cuts in maintenance were obvious. This course layout does not accomodate walkers due to extensive distances from some greens to next tee boxes, and the walkers we played behind slowed up pace of play. Course marshal was ambivalent about it. Service at bag drop was non-existent until end of round when they were sniffing around for a tip to pretend to wipe down clubs. It would be a great track if they get the fairways back to being green instead of light brown. The only green fairways were 9 and 18 which are the only ones visible from the clubhouse.

Played On 01/06/2022Good value. Great condition
Course was in great condition. Greens rolled true with Moderate pace. Fairways and bunkers in good condition. Would definitely play again.
For first timers here, carts do not have GPS or yardage information. There is no course overview on scorecard and many holes are doglegs.

Played On 03/08/2021Great greens
Greens were fantastic and bunkers (of which there are a LOT) were adequately sanded. Fairway divots were numerous., and some bare spots were noticed. No grass in rough and all hard-pan. Outside service was non-existent, until outside attendant wandered over after round to wipe clubs (for a tip of course) and was snotty when wipe down was declined.
Course is surrounded by a noisy streets and bordered by houses not well kept. Beyond all that, this course could be really good if the fairways and rough were better maintained .

Played On 03/02/2021Good value
Good value for this time of year. Green to next t-box on some holes is confusing... no signage.. Course winds through a residential housing area and long distance between some greens and next t box.

Played On 02/11/2021Good value - great conditioning
Course was in excellent condition. Sand in bunkers consistent. Greens were hard but will hold a shot.
Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
Played On 01/19/2021Good value
Despite prior reviews, the greens were slow (nice break from faster greens) and relatively free of bumps. Sand in bunkers was consistent. Fairway grass was not even and needs to fill in a bit so winter rules were in effect in my group. An average track but still fun to play, Only real downside is that greens are so close to next tee box on some holes that there is no place to safely wait until the next group gets off tee if there is a backup. Will play there again.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 01/14/2021Great track
Excellent condition except for the bunkers. Some had no sand, just like hitting from the desert. The other bunkers had minimal sand over hard pan. Would have rated course conditions five star otherwise.
Fantastic! Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time and we appreciate your feedback on our bunkers. We hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing The Legacy Golf Club.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 01/10/2020SLOW play but nice course
Course in good condition. No GPS on carts but no issue as long as you have a rangefinder. Pace of play was horrible. 12:38 t time was backed up 15 minutes due to slow play.. 4:45 round. Short course from tips about 6000 yds. Problem is that long hitters have to wait until on second shots to par 5s for the green to open.
Legend Trail Golf Club
Played On 01/04/2019Lumpy greens - poor condition of bunkers
The staff at this course had no enthusiasm. .. going through the motions.
Greens were lumpy - apparently the rolling machine was not being used. Bunkers were clay with a thin layer of sand...more sand needed. Ranger disappeared at 3:30 pm after encouraging us to keep up with the group ahead. Unfortunately that was not a problem as course was backed up on holes 11 through 17.
Tees and fairway in good condition.
This could be a really good course but the lumpy greens and lack of sand in bunkers made this a mediocre public course. Too bad because the track is really good.
Thank you for taking the time to review us, russrite. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your business. Encanto Golf Course thanks you!
