Could be a whole lot better

This course has the bones of a really great course. The layout is nice and short, and pretty much what'd you expect from a short par-3. The conditions were horrendous, however. I was playing out of the mud every other shot, and I was definitely guessing what was considered "fairway."

Given a bit more care, this could be a really great track. But for under $20 for 9 holes, it's not the worst you could do, especially to get outside during this pandemic.

Poor budget course

For a 7000+ yard course at its price, it's definitely a good value. Additionally, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The food and beverage services, especially the grill at the turn were both fantastic.

All that being said, the course was in terrible condition. Tee boxes were ripped up, fairways were nowhere near as good as they could be, and trying to putt on the greens was a nightmare. Furthermore, the pace of play was awful. Not only did a single have to join our threesome, but we had another single play through and were constantly waiting on the group in front of us.

Slow pace of play can be forgiven to an extent, and course conditions alone combined with excellent service should earn at least three stars in my mind. What knocked this course down to two for me was the fact that there was a storm quickly approaching and there was never a horn or warning to get people off the course. My playing partners insisted the course would warn us to get off, but we eventually called it quits when lightning struck incredibly close by. Even after driving all the way back to the clubhouse from the back nine and getting into our cars, there was never a horn. The storm opened up right as we left the parking lot.

A typical resort course

Even after being 10 minutes late for our tee time after difficulty navigating the massive and complicated Marriott complex, we were able to get on the course relatively quickly. The course was surprisingly upscale, definitely much higher end than we expected but the staff was incredibly nice and we had an excellent chat with the starter about the nuances of the course while waiting for a group opening.

The course was in magnificent shape, one of the best maintained courses I've ever played. The roll on the greens was incredible, and the architecture of the holes required a lot more thought than simply "grip it and rip it."

A single was paired with us for pace of play purposes, but we didn't spend too much time waiting for the group ahead of us.

Expect a high-end golf experience and you'll be just fine. Carts have GPS touchscreens for easy measurements, the range is right next to the starter to warm up while you wait for an opening, and be sure to bring plenty of tip money. The round itself is a bit pricey, but there is some significant bang for your buck.

Five star experience once you step into the clubhouse. The difficulty and logistics of dropping clubs then either parking in the garage or using the valet knocks it down to four. Both the garage and valet are complimentary with tickets from the clubhouse.

A great short course

This is the perfect course for the intermediate golfer. It's priced at about the same as some longer courses in better condition, but for anyone ready to take a step up from par-3 courses this is an excellent first step.
