One of My Favorite Tracks

I play in a 50 mile-wide region around Parrish, Florida and get to see some of the best courses, especially those participating in the FSGA One-Day tournaments.
While there are certainly better and lesser courses In the mix, I have found Rosedale Golf and Country Club to be a very enjoyable place to play, and go back regularly. It is a well managed club and provides a confident structure for golf from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. From a purely golf standpoint, the course is almost always in great condition. Like all courses, navigating relentless rain, high humidity, and an unforgiving sun at hard weather points is a test for any course, but they work hard to keep it in very playable shape at all times. I’m a 14 index and play the 5,882 white tees and it’s a tight, long, and challenging track that plays like 6,100 yards.
Throw in attentive course and clubhouse staff and you’ve got an attractive environment that worth every penny!

As Good As it Gets

Have played Lakewood National several times and it reminded me again today just how impressive this course is. It was in PGA Tour condition (and it’s May with many folks already having gone north, so every incentive not to keep it in a refined state.). Where in the Bradenton/Sarasota area can you find a huge practice range with balls included, impeccably kept tees (with seven tee positions) and fairways, and beautifully uniform greens with carpet soft slopes surrounding them? Of course, your greeted at the curb, your clubs are put on the cart, and your treated respectfully by all. And here’s the kicker, we got a Golfnow deal on top of all of that. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Worth Playing!

Read some recent negative reviews, but NOT what I found here. They are paying attention to this course! Overall condition is more than acceptable, and I'll be back. I have a 13.6 index and play above average golf, so found this a pleasant experience. Most of the greens are 90% there and putted true. Love the fact that the cart guy came almost out to the parking lot to get my bag, greeted me nicely, and cordially answered my questions about clubhouse access. Pro shop guy was also very nice. For $25, it was a real summer bargain!

Much Better Options for the Cost

Anyone who plays golf in Florida in the summer, knows that you have opportunities on great courses at heavily reduced rates.
I live in Parrish, and had just played Club Renaissance, Waterlefe, and Stoneybrook at or well under $40. They're all premium tracks, especially Waterlefe, and are in nice shape: good greens, traps, and fairways that give you real value for the money. More importantly, as a serious golfer and student of the game, they give you satisfaction that your effort wasn't compromised by poor conditions. So it was a bit shocking to get to Legacy (booked in the parking lot at our previous round) and pay $41.73 for very poor greens (from deeply pock-marked to shaggy, to various depth surfaces) and unraked or unplayable traps. Have to say that the course layout is well designed and challenging, and that made the flaws somewhat tolerable.

Great link-style course with lots of character

Course is in very good shape, especially the greens. They are so uniform they seem almost synthetic. Course is also quite challenging and requires you to think constantly. Add a little wind and it becomes a very formidable test of golf.
