Clearwater Country Club
Played On 03/24/2018Long Round
We had a 10:45 am tee time. Several foursomes were backed up on the tee box when we arrived at 10:30. For some reason, they were sending everyone off the 10th tee. We thought there might be a league/tournament going on, but were told that this was a typical Saturday. Didn't tee off until 11:15. Backups on every hole. First nine took 3 hours to complete. Second nine did move a little bit faster, but par 3s still had 2-3 groups waiting. We did not see a ranger on the course to move things along. I would wait until the afternoon if you want to play this course. The front nine had an area where about 5 holes converged in one place. Balls were flying at you in all directions. Poor layout.
North Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2014Great Round
Granted it was a Monday at noon, but I'll take a 3 1/2 round any day. The course has a good mix of holes for short and long hitters. It had its challenges, but wasn't overwhelming. My son (80-90) and I (100-110) both enjoyed the course. It was in good shape.
Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course
Played On 3/11/2013Great course for winter golf
We had a good experience at "The Vanny". We traveled from CT, since our courses were still covered in snow. For the price, it was a good course with a mix of short and long holes. Most par 4s are fairly short, but you do get to "grip it and rip it" on #2 (559 yards), #10 (452 yards) and #12 (550 yards). The holes are all pretty straight with not much there to tangle you up. Water appears on two holes, pretty much right in front of the tee box. #14 has water on the right, but only if you take it way right of the fairway on your approach to the green. Fairways were bumpy and spotty in spots, but that's par for the course when you play winter golf. Hopefully, that will fill in when the grass starts to grow.
