Ahwatukee Country Club
Played On 03/20/2022Stay away - Head pro
After my son and I got strep throat within the 24 hour cancellation notice I called the course and told them we wouldn’t make it and requested to cancel. The female agent said it would be up to the golf pro to decide.
I guess he decided $$$ was more important than our health and the health of his workers.
I’ll never go back. After 25 years golfing in the valley this is only the 2nd time I’ve blacklisted a golf course.
Desert Sands Golf Course
Played On 02/12/2022Great for Casual Golfers
Executive Course with a friendly layout. Tee boxes need to be leveled and fairways are average.
Greens in great shape and quite challenging. With the exception of #18, greens are tiered and elevated and defend the against easy Pars for those landing on greens in regulation.
Casual atmosphere with friendly, mostly retirement age, employees. Great for beginners and frequent weekend hackers.

Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Played On 05/02/2021Dry, course somewhat unkept
Course has been in various stages of decline for years. Large bare spots in some fairways a few greens were thin on grass. Appears to be irrigation issues. Areas that used to be Bermuda are now just bare dirt.
Overall a fun course with a lot of its original character.
Sun City Lakes Golf Club - East Course
Played On 04/24/2021No Carts
Had a 8:55 tee time and no carts. They wouldn’t have any back for 1.5 hours. Had to cancel and lucky we got on at Willowbrook.
Willowbrook Executive Golf Course at Willowcreek Golf Course
Played On 07/19/2020Greens plugged
Course in great shape except for greens - long and slow due due to recent plugging. My guess they are somewhere between week 1 and 2. Otherwise great conditions.
Elephant Rocks at Williams

22 handicap
Escaped the Phoenix heat and played a beautiful course with a challenging layout. 1st time I played the course in more than 15 years.
The course was in great shaped in a beautiful setting. Homes have started springing up around the course but never in danger of an errant t-shot. $40 for a 11:20 tee-time with distant views of snow capped peaks - can’t beat-it.
Rancho Manana Golf Club

A spectacular day and a gorgeous course in great condition. Water running through course and ideal playing conditions. The course will leave your head shaking for first timers. Driver isn’t necessary and downright dangerous on several holes starting with #1.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 03/22/2020Sun City South - great day!
As usual, Sun City recreation golf greens were excellent. The rough was think in places beyond the first cut. Tee-boxes, fairways and greens in great shape. Fairways and rough area plenty wide for high handicappers.
Sun City South plays a little longer than other recreation center courses. Pro Shop and snack bar recently remodeled. The best value in the Phoenix area.
