Oaks at Ft. Walton Beach Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2023Muni Golf at its Best!
Lots of places to play in the panhandle of Florida. I opted to head into Ft. Walton to play the Oaks course (had played the sister course there many years ago). It's everything I love about old courses. The layout is interesting, there is length, shot-making, water, sand, great trees and landscaping. The pride of the people who run the place shows all over (assuming a lot of ex-military which would explain a LOT about how well it seems to run). It was fun and I'll certainly come back.

Been playing this course for years...for a lot of reasons It's close to our place. It's interesting. It's reasonable. And when it has been taken care of properly, it can be a ton of fun as the front and back are very different from each other. Years ago, they sold off part of the 18th hole so a restaurant and strip mall could encroach backward in to the course. Now I hear they have sold off the front nine so that more condos can be built. It's a shame as this course was built in 1970. It's not like any other courses in the area. I played with a father and son from Kansas and they were shocked at how cool some of the views were and how neat the layout truly is for an older course. It's a shame that it will no longer exist.

I have loved playing this course for years. It's interesting and the front nine and back nine are very different. But it was burnt to a crisp and the maintenance appears to have taken an back seat to everything else. This course sold off part of the 18th hole a few years ago to develop a restaurant and I would not be surprised to find there were development plans for the rest of the land. The guys at the check-in area and in the clubhouse are always top-notch. It's a real shame as this thing is nestled in between oldl HWY 98 and 98 and it's been here a long time.

Haven't played there in several years. Always liked playing there. The course is a lot of fun. Several holes are somewhat difficult due to the doglegs or the changes in the layout of the fairway. Greens were fast on this time out, much faster than I remember. The course winds around through a neighborhood but it works out and doesn't feel cramped at all. Several blind tee shots are required and you must drive the ball well or you will be out of position.

Great golf course for playing when you have some time and want to work on some things. There are long holes, some difficult par threes, and there is water. Some fairways are side while some holes require you to re-think the club you are going to use off the tee. A good place to play.

Seascape Golf Beach and Tennis
Played On 05/17/2019Seascape - either you love it or you hate it
I love it. Been playing there for years and I've always thought it was a fun course to play. There is a good variance on the holes and the holes wind through Seascape as well as part of the natural landscape (one the east side of the property). You cannot just stand and hit the driver on every hole and there are many holes with a risk/reward trade that you must consider. Honestly, a little bit of care would go a long way here - get out early and rake the traps up, blow off greens, etc. But the staff is nice, it's VERY convenient, and though they sold off part of the 18th hole (dummies), it's still a fun and friendly place to play.

Cool course. Nice people. Somewhat of an 'old school' layout. Interesting holes. Fair course with sand traps (Florida!) all over the place. Greens in pretty good shape. Nice facilities when you check in and also out on the course with restrooms, water, etc. I'd play there again in a heartbeat.
Thank you for playing with us and providing the review! We are glad you enjoyed your round and we look forward to having you back again soon!
