Rivermoor Golf Club
Played On 05/12/2014raindrops only
even though rain threatened it was a good day and course is in very shape good for mid-May. the back nine was being played first, which made me wonder why. was a men's/women's league clogging up the front nine? was the front nine wet and they were avoiding some use by having all nine-holers on the back? this did not seem to be the case either way, but the pace was quite a bit different. it affected playability. perhaps the raindrops were causing movement on/off the course and slowing play. still, it is getting green and they are in good shape nonetheless. june should be great there.
Abbey Springs Golf Course
Played On 9/12/2013excellent in all ways
just the way I remember 15 years ago! still a great course!
Oaks at Edgewood Golf Course
Played On 7/15/2013great value AND great conditions!
the oaks is a tough course without the 85 degrees, but it was in such great shape I scored well anyway. chipped in for eagle on 6 along the water. a few fairways showed some non-grassy areas but it never really affected play. hotdeal was $20 so we had to go...
Riverdale Country Club
Played On 6/28/2013well kept, good play for value, what happened to the mini-practice green on 16th tee?
enjoyable, and quick playing. Everything was great, but get the mowing done before 7 am.
Maplecrest Country Club
Played On 5/20/2013should advertise for a greenskeeper!!
in order to create a "tougher" experience, some courses have gone to extremes in an effort to copy the US Open final round's fast, dry greens. unfortunately, to do so purposely with forethought to save money on water, it looks suspicious. near-dead greens running 13 doesn't make for an enjoyable putting experience. I only wonder what the man who was watering the tee boxes one by one thought of the brown greens. hope they get better soon.
White Birch at Brighton Dale Links
Played On 5/14/2013played blue and whites; in good shape already, plays quickly.
We played for less than half their normal rate, including cart. Hot deal was $12 each. Greens were all without blemish. No standing water in play. Overall only a 4 hour round with high player volume due to good weather. Won't see that later.
Bristol Oaks Golf Club and Banquet Center
Played On 12/02/2012greens terrible, cart was not avail, but paid for, not mowed.
we went in 55 degree december weather, so no high expectations. However, they hadn't cut any greens, fairways, rough or anywhere in a long time. the greens were unplayable due to the recent aeration, which they never disclosed. play was cheap because it was december ($10.50 per person for 18 w/cart) but the manager/owner was there and he was visibly upset at our rate and was treating his employees badly. he tried to sell me a golf pass for next season, but at $10.50 for 18, i told him no thanks. it was nice to get out in december though...
I don't know what course you are playing. the greens aren't even close to 13. Closer to 9 by superintendent's reading. Water on course has not been turned on yet due to mother nature. Greens are in very good shape (and getting better) for this time of year.
